This is a Canadian car. The speedometer/odometer is in kilometers with 30,385 original miles or 48,900 kilometers. The exterior is diamond blue metallic (code 355H) with cream beige leather interior (code 275). The car is in original condition with paint, leather interior, glass, soft top, hood pads, radio/cassette, spare tire, AC and all other aspects showing as it was purchased in 1986. Options include airbag in steering wheel (442), heated exterior mirrors (506), Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo (519), power antenna (531), alarm system (551), automatic climate control (581) and heated seats. Other than the clock, everything works as it should. The car is in immaculate condition with no cracks in the dash, no wear on the seat bolsters and no damage to the body. The car has never been in an accident, is rust free and all paint is original. There are a few minor scratches near the hardtop rear pin receiver caused by removing the hard top. It has always been in a dry climate in the interior of the country.
The car has always been kept in a climate controlled garage and never driven in winter or in inclement weather. It has been serviced at Mercedes dealers or at European auto service centres. Recent work includes oil/filter change, brake fluid flush/replacement, coolant flush/ replacement and new front shock absorbers. The car went through a full inspection on August 30, 2024 (results in photos) and other than an AC evacuation/ recharge, nothing had to be done. On August 30, 2024, the AC was evacuated, tested for leaks and recharged. It blows cold as it should. The AC system is original R12 and was recharged with RedTek R12(a), which is legal in Canada and compatible with R12. The seller confirmed compatibility with the manufacturer, Thermofluid Technologies Inc. who advised “that it is completely compatible with R12 including the oils.”
The first owner was a well known businessman in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Upon his passing in 2000, the car was sold privately to a friend who also resided in Prince Albert. When the second owner had health issues in 2016, the car was sold privately to a British mechanic who resides in a town north of Calgary, Alberta, not far from Prince Albert. This was his dream car as he used to service an identical car (same color combination), in England in his youth and took pride in it’s ownership. The car was driven short distances regularly and was well maintained. Even though it wasn’t necessary, the third owner replaced two tensioners on the timing chain so that this would not become a potential future issue. The seller purchased the car privately in July 2024. There are no liens or encumbrances on the vehicle which is registered and insured in Alberta. The seller has put 300 miles (500 kilometers) on the car under his ownership. The seller has a second home in Palm Desert, CA and is willing to import the car to the US should this be more convenient for a US buyer.
Other than the clock, everything works as it should, including the cassette player (several cassettes in the glove box). The seller did not want to fix the clock as it is part of the tachometer and he did not want to disturb the dash panel. The spare tire, (Perelli P6) is original and date stamped 186. The Michelin tires on the car are date stamped 468, which is believed to be the 46th week of 1998 and the tires have 8mm of rubber left on them as shown in the photos. The seller left the tires on the car to attest to the authenticity of the mileage. The tires can be changed to suit a new owner.
The car is being sold with a matching hardtop, hardtop stand and cover, rear windscreen, tools, owners manual, maintenance booklet, two keys and a car cover.
