This four-wheel-drive 1977 GMC Jimmy High Sierra is powered by a
400/175hp 4-barrel Chevrolet V8 engine mated to a Turbo Hydramatic
350 3-speed automatic transmission. The completely rebuilt 400 was
the top optional engine choice for 1977, and the block casting
number, 3951509, indicates a V8 with two-bolt main bearing caps.
Factory exhaust manifolds were retained, and a new stainless-steel
single exhaust system with a Flowmaster 40-series muffler was
installed. The detailed bay features a new hood pad, body-colored
firewall and gloss black air cleaner assembly, hood hinges, inner
fenders and radiator support. The wiring, wiper motor, air
conditioning components, hoses, alternator, power steering pump,
radiator and overflow tank were either restored or replaced. New
fuel lines and tank were also installed. The transmission was
rebuilt, as was the dual-range transfer case and differentials.
This Jimmy has been refinished in Burgundy, which is very similar
to the era-correct color of Mahogany. A white vinyl wrap was
applied to the roof, removable hardtop, hood, side panels and
tailgate, and the ZY5 Trim Package was added, which includes a
two-tone color scheme and vinyl striping for the hood. Except for
the original side vent windows, the rest is all new CCC glass.
Additional restored or replaced items include the windshield trim,
glass seals, wipers, dual mirrors, grille trim, headlight bezels,
LED headlights, parking light bezels and lenses, front and rear
chrome bumpers, fender and side moldings, door and tailgate
handles, taillight bezels and lenses, gas cap and emblems. The
interior includes new upholstery, door panels, carpeting,
floormats, headliner with working dome light, sun visors, dash pad,
instrument panel trim, comprehensive gauge package, switchgear and
vents. The truck is also equipped with air conditioning, power
windows, power locks and a power tailgate glass, along with cruise
control and an AM/FM stereo cassette player. The fiberglass
reinforced rear roof section is removable, as is the rear seat.
During the restoration the frame and underside of the body were
refinished in a textured black paint for durability, and the inner
fenders were painted in gloss black. While the suspension and power
steering systems were being restored, a 2.5-inch lift kit, Rough
Country premium shock absorbers and new 15-inch U.S. Mags Indy
polished aluminum wheels with Warn hubs and BFGoodrich All Terrain
T/A KO2 33x12.50 R15 LT tires were installed. ** PREVIEW
