2001 Ford Lightning, Build #1865 of a build of 6381 Lightnings in 2001. YZ white was used on 1,170 Lightnings. Mfg. 3-15-01
White pearl is used for ghost flames and some trim areas. The front grills are charcoal pearl. Headlights and tail lights are blacked out (have OE lights). Removeable custom painted artwork under the hood. New bed cover. Truxedo bed liner on the floor and side walls with a custom made Blue Oval Ford Emblem and a white Lightning Bolt on the floor. Truck hood is a Cobra style mfg. by Reflexions. Tires are Toyo. Wheels are OE style with California Chrome powder coat. CD player with AM/FM Stereo (OE). Trailer tow package. OE bench seat replaced by bucket seats with custom made leather seat covers using the OE punched leather seat inserts. Passenger seat is from a Ford Expedition. Added a center console, also from an Expedition in 2018. Have 2 extra sets of OE suede seat covers. There is a pillar gauge pod with boost, oil pressure and fuel pressure gauges and a steering column mounted air/fuel gauge. All gauges are by Auto Meter. There is a red air/fuel warning light on the center console. Changed OE trans pan to a 4x4 pan with a drain plug. Exhaust is SS cat back with X pipe. Alternator rebuilt in 2015. New Cobra aftercooler pump in 2018. Cobra PVC valve, a valve cover breather and a oil separator added to keep oil out of supercharger cooling system (works great). Supercharger and Plenum stripped of paint and buffed to shiny aluminum finish in 2018. OE double blade throttle body replaced with Acufab single blade throttle body (have OE throttle body). Added billet engine pulleys (have OE's). Billet engine trim. Have extra front clip cover and radiator cover. SCT tuner by Lightning Force Performance with tune for 93 octane and 90 octane gas. Always used 93 tune.
Engine valve seals were replaced on 6-8-23. Was not driving the Lightning enough and the valve seals dried out and the engine started to puff light blue smoke at start up. During the engine work, added MSD coil packs and plug wires. New TR spark plugs. Pulled supercharger and cleaned up the supercharger aftercooler. New gaskets from aftercooler to top of engine, including valve cover gaskets. New supercharger and plenum bolts. Replaced all hoses, vacuum caps, and supercharger belt. Cooling system cleaned and new antifreeze added. Water wetter added to aftercooler. Transmission fluid and filter and steering fluids changed, engine oil changed. New fuel filter.
This truck was never in snow or salt. Was always garage kept and stored in the winter. Never raced or wrecked. I purchased the Lightning from a local Ford Dealer in 2002. Truck had around 14,000 miles on it. The original owner traded the Lightning in for a more user friendly family vehicle in the spring of 2002. I drove the Lightning 1,800 to 2,000 miles per year, mostly drove the Lightning to car shows and cruises. Was always kept clean and waxed with ceramic wax. Always well maintained. Always used Ford synthetic oil and filters. Everything works on this truck, including the air.
Vehicle has less than 39.300 miles on it. Price is firm. No joy rides. Selling because of health reasons.
