Ford debuted the Thunderbird in 1955 as a personal luxury car with
focus on comfort and convenience. Originally released as a sporty
2-door roadster that eventually grew to add a rear seat and fixed
hardtop in 1958. Ford produced 11 different generations of their
personal luxury car between 1955 and 2005. This 1962 Ford
Thunderbird is a nice driver quality example of the third
generation of these great classic luxury cars. The third generation
Thunderbird, also known as the "Bullet Bird", featured a
"futuristic" aerospace-inspired exterior design, luxurious and well
equipped interior and the powerful 390 cubic inch big-block V8.
This 1962 Ford Thunderbird benefits from an older repaint in its
factory correct Colonial White exterior paint that shines very well
and is in very good condition throughout. Complimenting the
Colonial White exterior of this Thunderbird is its factory chrome
and stainless trim, factory "Thunderbird" script emblems, factory
Thunderbird badges, and a set of factory style steel wheels fitted
with period correct hubcaps and wrapped in Hankook Kinergy ST tires
(Dated 2021). This Thunderbird features a factory correct Medium
Turquoise Metallic interior that is in very good condition
throughout with the exception of dash cracks at the corner of the
dash speaker cover and cracks in the driver side arm rest. Powering
this beautiful Thunderbird is its 390 cubic inch big-block V8 that
has been upgraded with an Edelbrock AVS2 4-barrel carburetor,
Edelbrock valve covers, and Edelbrock air cleaner. The big-block V8
powerplant is backed by its Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic
transmission. Both the engine and transmission perform just as they
should and have no issue pulling this Thunderbird down the road
with ease. This Thunderbird is nicely equipped from the factory
with options such as: power steering, power brakes, AM radio,
swing-away steering wheel, heater/defrost, and variable speed
wipers. Included with the sale of this great Thunderbird is the
original letter to the new owner from Lee Iacocca, original owners
manual, factory valve covers, factory air cleaner, and a collection
of service records. If you are in the market for a very nice,
driver quality Thunderbird that is turn-key ready to enjoy and
would present well at any local cruise-in or car show, then you
will not want to miss out on this beautiful 1962 Ford
Thunderbird.
