Historically speaking, not many positive things are said about the
year 1929, for obvious reasons, perhaps. But, this 1929 Ford Model
A Tudor Sedan Street Rod is here to prove it is the exception to
that rule. Its steel body has been fully repainted in a subtle,
glossy black, while its silver and gold wire wheels, polished rear
end, and dual chrome exhaust pipes poking out from beneath the
backside of the cabin hint that there is a bit more to this car
beneath its understated veneer.
Inside, we find a custom walnut leather interior, featuring a pair
of plush bucket seats in the front and a two-person bench in the
back. A padded, banjo-style steering wheel comes with a V-8 emblem
center cap, which sits in front of a three-pod Classic Instruments
gauge cluster. A 7,000 rpm tachometer is flanked by a 120 mph
speedometer and a quartet of auxiliary gauges, all housed within a
larger display that matches the other two in size for uniformity. A
tilt steering column, power windows, defrost, air conditioning, and
an AM/FM/CD player add plenty of modern conveniences to allow this
old-school hot rod to drive comfortably anywhere it goes.
Prop up that throwback hood and you're treated to a clean engine
bay that looks rather tight thanks to the BluePrint 350 cubic-inch
crate V-8 engine stuffed between the fenders. Powered by an MSD
Atomic electronic fuel injection system, this new small block sends
spent gases out through a full stainless steel dual exhaust system
capped off by a pair of MagnaFlow mufflers. Power is routed through
a late-model 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission before the
chrome-plated rear end sends those ponies to the pavement via a
pair of 16-inch wire wheels shod in big 245/70R-16 Falken rubber.
At the same time, a narrower set of 195/50R-15 tires handles
steering duties, giving this car its classic staggered look.
