In 1933 Essex produced 430 commercial vehicles and this is believed to be the only remaining pick-up. The truck here has not only received one frame-off restoration but two with photographs that document both restoration processes. Power comes from a rebuilt 327ci V8 engine that is mated to a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission and custom Hurst linkage. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Mustang rear end with 3.73 gear ratios. There is more than enough power to move this truck down the road with ease. An additional benefit that's been added is power steering!
After the first restoration, the truck was painted black. The most recent restoration, however, had the frame removed along with all body components and everything was painted in the current green color that can be seen in the pictures. Describing this color green is extremely difficult as it is a truly unique color that is so beautiful it cannot be put into words. The exterior features a bed cover that has hydraulic supports, as well as a bed-mounted gas tank. A gas filler can be found on the exterior of the bed though that is purely for looks and is not functional.
Moving to the interior, the first thing that greets any occupant is the cast iron steering wheel and is one of many things that sets this truck apart from the rest. Also featured on the interior is a JVC radio with Bluetooth capabilities and custom aftermarket audio system. All gauges are the original and have been refinished showing the uniqueness of the truck but the speedometer and fuel gauge are inoperable which has not been an issue. The oil and water gauges are located above the windshield.
Even upon first glance anybody will notice that this super-rare truck has received tasteful custom modifications. These include the suicide doors that have power locks and power windows. There is a beautiful chrome that accents the exterior and brushed aluminum trim throughout the interior.
