There is something about a fully customized pickup truck that sets
it apart, even from other car show attendees. Perhaps it is the
dichotomy of a work-oriented vehicle that is now wholly dedicated
to leisure and flash. Or maybe it's the imposing stance trucks
present that makes us turn our heads a little quicker. Whatever it
is, one look at this 1984 Chevrolet C10 Silverado Show Truck, and
it's hard to take your eyes off of it. Fully repainted in black
with custom-painted graphics stretched out over its cowl hood,
billet-style full grille, color-matched front bumper, and full
shaved trim including badges, side mirrors, and Silverado side
trim.
Inside, we find a full custom black cloth interior. A cozy bench
seat provides an ample view of the padded dashboard and custom
metal trim. A Billet Specialties padded steering wheel sits just
ahead of a six-pod gauge cluster featuring a big 85 mph
speedometer, and a matching-in-size fuel gauge, while a quartet of
auxiliary gauges sits off the left side of the steering column. A
Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette player handles the soundtrack, while brushed
aluminum is used for the column-shifter, turn signal, and pedal
assembly. Out back, a full bedliner covers the entirety of the
expansive cargo area.
Under that aggressive hood, we find a clean engine bay that is a
beautiful mix of black paint, aluminum, and chrome. A single
four-barrel Rochester Quadrajet carburetor powers a 305 cubic-inch
V-8 engine, while a set of shorty headers expels spent gases
through a true dual exhaust, culminating in a pair of chrome
exhaust tips. That power is routed through a 700R4 four-speed
automatic transmission before heading out to the chrome-plated
ten-bolt rear end, which transfers those ponies to the pavement via
a set of massive 20-inch Ridler polished wheels shod in 275/45R-20
Calvary rubber. At the same time, a narrower set of 245/45R-20
Calvary tires is employed to handle power-assisted steering
duties.
