1949 Dodge B1B-108 Pickup – Pilot House “Five-Window” Truck
Offered here is a beautifully restored 1949 Dodge B1B-108 pickup, one of the iconic “Pilot House” trucks produced in the post-war era. The B1B designates this model as a half-ton truck, while 108 refers to its 108-inch wheelbase. Collectors often call these models “Pilot House trucks” because of their distinctive cab design that reminded folks of a ship’s pilot house, complete with small corner windows. These corner windows earned the truck the reputation of being a five-window pickup—a highly desirable feature among vintage truck enthusiasts.
This particular truck underwent a complete frame-off restoration. The body, including the cab, doors, bed, fenders, and bumpers, was disassembled and sandblasted to bare metal inside and out. Originally finished in red, it was refinished in a deep Hunter Green using polyurethane primer, high-quality automotive paint, and a protective clear coat. Importantly, there is no body filler anywhere on this truck and absolutely no rust present.
Mechanically, the engine and transmission were completely overhauled, ensuring smooth and reliable performance. The truck retains its all-original authenticity, equipped with a three-speed floor-shift transmission, a black vinyl bench seat interior, and its original antique wheels. Included with the truck are six antique wheels, two correct radios, approximately 10 hubcaps, a new fuel tank, and various other extra parts.
This 1949 Dodge B1B-108 is more than just a truck—it’s a true survivor and an authentic example of the rugged yet stylish pickups offered in post-war America. With its timeless design, originality, and meticulous restoration, this Dodge is ready for its next caretaker to appreciate and enjoy.
