during the short 3-year run. With an original list price of $2,366
in 1947, it measured a 121.5" wheelbase and weighed in at 3,917
pounds, making it an excellent road-going cruiser! The wooden body
framing was constructed of white ash with Honduran mahogany veneer
panels for a splendid presentation, with the sedans maintaining a
solid steel roof.
This Vintage Chrysler Town & Country example comes powered by a
250.6ci Inline 6-cylinder L-Head engine and the durable Fluid-Drive
4-speed semi-automatic transmission, producing an ideal 114
factory-rated horsepower and 204 ft. lbs. of torque. Options
include factory turn signals, push-button AM radio with station
presets & tone control, windshield spotlight, Comfort Master
heat/defrost, dual outside rearview mirrors, Fulton 'Sun Shield'

interior courtesy light, correct front & rear bumper guards,
center-mounted trunk brake light, cowl ventilation, and brand new
wide whitewall tires.
Truly a beautifully preserved Town & Country Sedan hailed from a
private Nantucket residence called "The Boathouse" that used it to
shuttle/retrieve guests from a local airport for many, many years.
It was also used to attend local events and classic car gatherings
throughout the summer. It would trade hands in 2017 with a West
Coast collector from the Manhattan Beach, California area who would
have the car restored with a professional exterior repaint back to
its original color in approximately 2019. It then sold to Berliner
Classic Cars in Dania Beach, Florida, in 2020, where it remained
until our acquisition in December 2024.
Upon arrival to our facility, our shop inspection and routine
incoming service work included refinishing the wheels and
installing Coker Classic radial tires measuring 235/75R15,
rebuilding the brake master cylinder, flushing the system with new
DOT 5 brake fluid, installing new rear shoes, and adjusting all
brakes accordingly, installed new spark plugs/plug wires, new
voltage regulator, cap/rotor/condenser, flushing the radiator and
installing new hoses along with fresh heater hoses, rebuilding the
original carburetor with new float, new engine oil/filter, drive
belts, replacing the motor motors, fuel filter, front wheel
bearings, rear transmission seal, fresh Mobil DTE transmission oil,
and new rear differential gear oil.
It runs wonderfully and drives wonderfully, representing one of a
decreasing number of quality examples that still exist in the
market these days. We encourage any prospective buyer to call with
questions or to schedule a chance to review it in person. A
splendid addition to any collection, and certainly a spectacular
conversation piece welcome at any show gathering.

History of Chrysler's Town & Country model:
After World War II, Chrysler resumed production with very few
modifications to their model lineup and available body styles. For
this reason, the dependable 251ci Straight 6 and 323ci Straight 8
cylinder L-Head engines remained the power plants across all
models. With a gorgeous shape featuring long, curved fenders
feeding into the doors, split screen windshields, triple bumper
guards, and a harmonica-style grille highlighting the front ends,
these impressive cars made quite a presence traveling down the
road! The catalog for the top-of-the-line Town & Country model
range listed 5 body styles to choose from in 1946, although only a
convertible and 4-door sedan went into production.
