This 1959 Chevrolet Apache short-bed pickup truck has an
interesting, nostalgic look. You don't see these as much as you see
the classic Chevy C-series trucks or the Ford F-series, and that
adds a little more fun to driving one of these cool classics. With
a captivating orange exterior paint job, black old-school wheels,
big chrome bumpers, and an interior to match, this truck screams
old-school cruising fun. With a great-looking engine bay, wooden
flooring slats for the truck bed, and a black painted
tailgate-while you're cruising, take a few stops at some car shows;
it will be a big hit.
A vinyl and cloth bench seat configuration will host your butt and
back comfortably. A wood-rim steering wheel with tilt sits in front
of the column shifter, and visible Dakota gauges with a tachometer
and a digital odometer/clock display in the dash are very retro
looking. To add to the retro look is a stock appearing, but
modern-day AM/FM/Casset radio. Vintage air controls handle blowing
out cold A/C, warm heat, and the defrost, while your door handles,
window cranks, and seat belts work as they should.
The clean engine bay of this Apache pickup cradles a dressed-up 350
cubic-inch engine. An Edelbrock AVS2 single 4-barrel carburetor is
surrounded by nicely black-painted valve covers, a custom-painted
air cleaner cover, and a painted silver intake. An aluminum
radiator takes on the task of flowing the coolant through the
engine, and the chrome alternator adds some more eye appeal under
the hood. Connected to the engine is a 700R4 4-speed automatic
transmission that converts the power to the rear end, then to the
15-inch wheels. Those wheels are wrapped in P215/70R15 tires, and
behind those wheels and tires are front power disc brakes and rear
power drum brakes. The Apache has a welded-in aftermarket Heidts
Mustang II front suspension, while the rear works with leaf springs
with shocks for a tight, comfortable ride. And as you're driving,
enjoy the sound of your engine running through dual exhaust with
Flowmasters.
