The Continental Mark V was a personal luxury coupe marketed by
Lincoln for only 2 years. They hold the record for being the
longest 2 door coupe Ford has ever released. This 1979 is known as
the "Collector's Series" which was to commemorate the end of the
Mark V production. They were distinguished from all others by the
lack of opera windows, the Gold colored grill, the Gold hood
ornament, and 18 ounce luxurious carpeting. They had every
available feature at the time and were fully loaded. They were
offered in 4 colors and 2 of those were monochromatic with matching
tops. The Diamond Blue Moondust Metallic ones however, like this
one, were offered with the Midnight Blue top which made them more
unique. Production was limited and out of the 6,262 Collector's
Series produced only 197 were in Diamond Blue. The paint on this
car is in good condition as is the vinyl top. It has remained in
the same family since new. It has nice chrome and stainless accents
throughout and hideaway headlights up front. On the deck lid the
car has a vinyl raised area on the decklid which was a nod to the
continental kits on luxury cars of the past. The car rides on its
original wheels and has thin white wall tires.
Turning those tires is the 400ci 6.6L motor that runs great. It is
all very stock throughout. Paired with the motor is a 3 speed
automatic transmission that shifts smoothly. Being a special
edition it has all the options including power steering, power
brakes, air conditioning, power locks, power seats, and power
windows which are all working properly. It even has a power sunroof
up top.
The interior is all done in Dark Blue and is in great shape
throughout. It has the leather interior option and the seats are
all in good condition. It has wood grain trim throughout and it is
all there. These cars were very advanced for their age and even had
things like a digital display that would tell you how many miles of
gas you have left in the tank. On the dash you will also find the 8
track player with the CB radio option. The trunk has a ton of
storage space and houses a spare with cover.
The car has always been stored indoors and has 40,374 original
miles. If these cars interest you this is definitely one you will
want to check out. They had a base price of $22,000 brand new so it
is being offered up at a great price.
It is all yours for $20,000.00!
