Melanson Motors is proud to offer this 1969 Chevelle SS 396. This
is a very special car! A real Super Sport presented in its original
Daytona Yellow color. In 1969, Daytona Yellow was a special order
color only available on Super Sport models. This Chevelle was sold
new at Pollard Chev Olds in Big Spring, Texas. It came to Canada in
the 1980's and was restored in 1987. In speaking with previous
owners, this Chevelle started the restoration as a rust free Texas
car, and it retains its original sheet metal with the exception of
the front fenders which were replaced with real GM NOS fenders. The
body is straight and the paint is in great condition. Last year,
The current owner commissioned a very correct and high dollar
engine rebuild. The owner sourced a date correct 396 CE warranty
replacement block, proper 1969 oval port heads, a correct intake
manifold and the proper carburetor. The Rochester carburetor is a
one year only part for a 1969 396/350hp. A correct core was hunted
down and restored with good original stampings. Entec Racing in
Toronto was tasked with the rebuild. The total cost was over
$14,000 and the engine dynoed at 380hp and 410lbs-ft of torque.
Slightly above original specifications. This car starts and runs
phenomenally and is comfortable on the road.
This Chevelle has a desirable list of options which include power
steering, power disc brakes, bucket seats with console, and
original SS gauges. The clock has been replaced and the original is
included in the sale. The radio has also been upgraded and the
original radio is included in the sale. Inside, the car is
beautiful. SS 396 badges sit in the center of the door panels, an
original steering wheel is affixed to the steering column, the
leather bucket seats have headrests and are in great condition. The
trunk has the correct spatter finish, a spare tire and a jack.
Underneath, the original frame and floors present in excellent rust
free condition. The car rides on real, restored Chevelle Magnum
wheels. The wheels are date correct and were re-chromed and
repainted at a very high cost. The tires are correct white letter
Firestone Wide Oval reproductions.
