MERCEDES-BENZ ICON In 1971, Mercedes-Benz introduced the all-new
Type R107 350 SL as the replacement for its long-running
230/350/280SL sporting convertible models. The design was by famed
stylist Bruno Sacco, who was also responsible for the Mercedes-Benz
S-Class sedans of the 1970s. Somewhat larger than its predecessors,
the new SL was based upon a steel unibody structure and featured a
more luxurious interior. Faster than ever before, the new SL
delivered more predictable handling and industry-leading safety
features. As expected, Mercedes-Benz constantly refined and updated
the R107, which remained in production for nearly 20 years in five
variants. Powered by a 5.6-liter V-8 developing 227 factory-rated
horsepower and 279 pounds-feet of torque, the 560SL was the
ultimate expression, available from 1985 through 1989. As always,
Mercedes-Benz SL ownership, particularly regarding the 560SL,
clearly signified that one had "arrived" in life, a status that
continues today. This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is a very special,
collector-grade example, offered with just 17,235 original miles at
the time of writing. Benefiting from the loving care of just two
owners from new, this 560 SL is now offered on behalf of a
Mercedes-Benz master mechanic with 50 years of experience. Offered
in spectacular, impeccably original condition throughout, the 560
SL is finished in factory-specified Diamond Blue Metallic (Code
3550) paint and Royal Blue Leather (Code 272) upholstery. A Dark
Blue soft top and body-color removable hardtop are included. This
original U.S.-specification 560 SL is highly equipped with options,
including the rear-spoiler delete, a rare rear seat, an outside
temperature indicator, heated outside mirrors, a Becker electronic
radio, an automatic antenna, an anti-theft warning system, a front
folding armrest, automatic climate control, and heat-insulating
glass all around. In addition to a complete inspection, service,
and detailing, new tires are fitted. In addition to a clean Carfax
vehicle history report, this 560 SL includes the original
books/manuals and window sticker. With its exceptionally low
mileage, originality, and outstanding condition, this
collector-grade 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL is a stellar example of a
true Mercedes-Benz icon. See this wonderful example for yourself by
