Finished in its original factory color combination of Signal Red
over black interior, this 1969 Triumph TR6 is documented by a
British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate. Chassis CC30925L
was completed at Coventry on July 1, 1969, and shipped 10 days
later to British Leyland Motors in Los Angeles.
While most early history is undocumented, known ownership traces
back to 2014, when the reputed original owner sold the TR6 to its
second owner. In 2019 it passed to a Missouri resident, and in 2021
IT'S ALIVE! acquired the car from its reputed third owner.
Upon arrival, the TR6 showed a faded older respray but largely
original interior. While the indicated 56,000 miles were
undocumented, its condition supported the figure. Our team embarked
on a sympathetic cosmetic restoration paired with mechanical
upgrades.
The car was stripped of lamp assemblies, bumpers, trim, and
weatherstripping before being refinished in fresh Signal Red. Seats
and console were removed to install a rebuilt TR6 4-speed overdrive
gearbox, wired and tested with correct factory switchgear. A new
wood dashboard was fitted, and all weatherstripping and trim
replaced. Exterior brightwork was refreshed with new polished
stainless-steel bumpers by Group Harrington. A new set of 72-spoke
chrome wire wheels was shod with 185R15 Coker Redline tires.
In 2023, an out-of-state buyer acquired the car and immediately
commissioned further performance enhancements. The original 2.5L
inline-six was replaced with a donor TR6 block built with over
$6,000 in components from GOOD PARTS, including triple SU HS6
carburetors, aluminum intake manifold, polished stainless header,
1.55:1 roller rockers, and .030" overbore pistons. Displacement now
stands at 2,574cc, with power estimated north of 165 hp. An
aluminum radiator and MONZA-style quad-tip exhaust complete the
package, delivering a period "hot rod" TR6 experience.
Inside, a Nardi 15" wood-rimmed steering wheel adds period flair,
while the sound system features a modern Kenwood head unit with
Bluetooth, AUX, and USB, four speakers, and a trunk-mounted
amplifier.
