Few cars personify the automotive spirit of the 1960s quite like
this 1966 Chevrolet Corvette. Fully repainted in its original
Silver Pearl color, which showcases its sleek hardtop coupe body
style, this restomodded C2 has just 1,915 miles on its odometer
since it was built. While its original hood has been replaced with
a more aggressive piece, thankfully, this 'Vette retains its
undeniably cool side pipes, which announce its arrival long before
it gets there.
Inside, we find a fully restored black vinyl interior. A center
console separates the dual bucket seats, while a three-spoke,
power-assisted, wood-rimmed steering wheel sits just ahead of the
C2 six-pod gauge cluster, featuring a 7,000 rpm tachometer and a
150 mph speedometer. A large analog clock sits high atop the center
stack, while an upgraded AM/FM head unit takes the place of the
original. Thanks to the coupe setup, this 'Vette also sports a
sizeable cargo area behind the seats, making road trips equal parts
practical and fun.
Under that front-hinged hood, we find a clean engine bay that
houses a built 383 cubic-inch stroker V-8 engine. Built with an
Eagle crankshaft, a big 4.0-inch bore, a performance cam, and
Brodix IK 180 aluminum cylinder heads, this powerful small block is
fed by a Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection system and an
Edelbrock intake manifold. This setup also features a set of shorty
headers that send spent gases out through those glorious side
pipes. Power is routed through a tried-and-true four-speed manual
transmission before heading out to the 3.08-geared Positraction
rear end that transfers those ponies to the pavement via a set of
five-spoke Jegs wheels shod in 215/70R-15 Cooper rubber. At the
same time, a narrower set of 205/70R-15 tires handles steering
duties up front.
