Well documented, numbers-matching 1967 Porsche 912 Coupe, finished
in the original color combination of Slate Grey (6601-G) with a
Black leatherette interior-continuous ownership history from new,
with a meticulous mechanical and cosmetic restoration.
Delivered in May of 1967 by South Import Motors, Inc., the first
purchase was by Alexander & Dorothy Brownlee, two esteemed
professors at the University of Chicago. After relocating to
Colorado in 1968, the couple cherished the 912 as their primary
means of transportation until their passing in 1990, when the 912
passed to their close friend, Dr. Richard Smith, in 1991. The 912
remained well preserved in garage-kept condition throughout their
23-year stewardship.
In March 1992, with 89,000 miles, Dr. Smith commissioned a
comprehensive engine rebuild by Bug Clinic, Inc. in Illinois. The
matching 1600cc flat-four engine #750030 was rebuilt with new
pistons, cylinders, main bearings, camshaft and lifters, pushrod
tubes, Solex carburetors, clutch, flywheel, ignition components,
and more. No expense was spared in ensuring the long-term
mechanical health of the vehicle.
In 1998, the 912 was cosmetically restored by Vorderman Auto Body
and Restoration in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The rust-free body was
stripped to bare metal and repainted in its original color of Slate
Grey using a basecoat/clearcoat system. All the body seals, lights,
and trim were replaced or refurbished, but it retains the original
SEKURIT glass and SIGLA windshield.
Further cosmetic and mechanical improvements include:
• Engine refinished and powder-coated in gloss black
• New engine sound deadening installed
• Wheels powder-coated in Bengal Silver with Vredestein Sprint
Classic 165 HR15 tires
• Complete brake system rebuilt with calipers, new brake pads,
rotors, lines, and hoses
• The interior was upholstered with grey carpets and black
upholstery
The 912 was acquired in 2017 by the current owner of Newport Beach,
California, a lifelong Porsche enthusiast, to celebrate his 50th
wedding anniversary. Under his ownership, the 912 has been
exclusively maintained by European Collectibles and kept in
pristine, show condition.
