Few things can be as alluring as the sight of a properly done
restomod. Blending the beauty of yesteryear's design with the
efficiency and convenience of modern technology, this 1971
Chevrolet Camaro LS1 Restomod is truly one of a kind. Fully
repainted in classic Hugger Orange, this 2nd Gen features an
entirely custom and correct Rally Sport front end upgrade, along
with a mini-tubbed rear, to give it a distinctive stance from any
angle.
Inside, we find a nicely restored black and orange houndstooth
vinyl and cloth interior. A center console separates a pair of
late-model Camaro power seats. A beautiful Forgiato custom
five-spoke, power-assisted wheel sits in front of a trick-looking
Dakota Digital gauge cluster. Vintage Air HVAC controls and vents
provide both heat and air conditioning, while an AM/FM/AUX
touchscreen infotainment system offers Bluetooth connectivity.
Power windows let the cool air in, while a late-model SS badge on
the glovebox reminds everyone this car is a bit more than your
average muscle car.
Under that swoopy hood, we find an aluminum 5.7-liter LS1 V-8
engine. Sporting lightweight aluminum 241 heads, FiTech fuel
injection system, throttle body, and intake manifold. Shorty
headers feed into a true dual exhaust system, capped off with a set
of aftermarket mufflers. Power is routed through a 4L60E four-speed
automatic transmission before being sent out to the 3.50-geared
Ford nine-inch rear end, which transfers those ponies to the
pavement via a set of stunning 20-inch Forgiato powder-coated
wheels shod in 275/30ZR-20 Venom Power rubber. At the same time, a
narrower set of those Ragnarok tires up front, measuring
245/30ZR-20, handles steering duties and provides the perfect
staggered look.
