When introduced in 1967, the Chevy Camaro was an instant success.
Few at Chevrolet imagined that the Gen1 Camaro would eventually
become a GM icon like the Bel-Air from a decade earlier. Chevy was
simply trying to join the promising pony-car market. Today, many
folks say that Gen1 Camaro is one of the best-looking Chevrolets to
ever roll off the line.
This fully restored (2017) 1967 Camaro RS/SS coupe is a stunning
example of this very special GM lore. Without question, it is one
of the nicest Camaros we have had here at AutoBarn. The Camaro
coupe left the factory with both the Rally Sport and Super Sport
350 option packages and it appears that all of the original major
mechanical components are still there, with the exception of the
manual transmission. The body fit is exceptional and the fresh
respray of Tuxedo Black is virtually flawless. The Rally Sport
option adds hide-away headlights and extra chrome trim/molding. The
Camaro is also embellished with the 'Bumble-Bee' nose stripe (an
option only on '67/'68 models). Upgraded wheels are 18" Billet
Specialty 'Speedway' alloys that mount Falken Z-rated redline
radials. The Camaro's stance is classic '60s and it looks great
from any angle - check the photos again. The restored interior
looks every bit as good as the exterior. It features new Camaro
Custom Black Vinyl upholstery, Sanden A/C (R-134), new components
(door panels, dash, carpet, console), Hurst Comp+ shifter, SS gauge
package w/tach, power tinted windows (new glass), tilt wheel and
AM/FM/Cassette sound system. Every aspect of this interior is
top-shelf.
Horsepower is furnished by the rebuilt 'numbers-matching' 350ci
small-block. This engine is the SS350 version equipped with a 4V
Rochester QuadraJet carburetor that was rated at 295hp. Torque is
delivered through a non-original Muncie close-ratio 4-speed manual
transmission ('68 casting number) to a 12-bolt open-differential
with what is believed to run 3.31:1 gears. The spotless chassis is
equipped with power steering and power disc/drum brakes w/4-piston
calipers and dual master. This Camaro is Bowtie history that will
only become more valuable over time. You cannot go wrong with this
handsome Camaro as an investment and special driving experience.
