Vehicle Description
This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible is absolutely loaded with
pro touring style upgrades that are sure to make it a fantastic
summer cruiser! When it comes to muscle cars, and the Muscle Car
Era, the 1970 model was the peak. Peak performance. Peak style.
Peak Muscle Car! And, the 1970 Chevelle is one of a few muscle cars
that exemplify just how great 1970 was for muscle cars. In 1970,
the Chevelle got a whole new look. Overall, the '70 Chevelle's look
was bolder than any Chevelle up until this point. Up front, dual
headlights were incorporated into the front fenders, straddling a
new-look split grille that sat above a redesigned front chrome
slotless bumper with integrated parking lights. The side silhouette
of the 1970 Chevelle was flatter with respect to the front fenders,
leading to a more imposing looking muscle car as did a modified
roofline from the previous year. The rear-end treatment was also
considerably updated in 1970, moving away from a more tapered look
into a squarer, bolder look from the back of the car. 1970 also
marked the pinnacle of Chevrolet performance, highlighted by the
Super Sport (SS) package available for the Chevelle as well as the
availability of bigger engines with more carburetors that created
incredible horsepower and torque. The SS package was evident from
nearly every angle of a Chevelle SS, complete with special stripes
and badging, as well as a blacked-out grille among other items. In
total, a mere 7,511 Chevelle convertibles were produced in 1970
which makes this particular Chevy quite a rare find. Under the
functional cowl induction hood is a F.A.S.T EZ-EFI Fuel Injected
454 cubic inch V8 that starts up and runs great! The fuel injected
big block is backed by a Tremec 5 speed manual transmission that
makes this classic muscle car a total blast to drive! Exhaust exits
the 454 big block via an upgraded set of performance headers and
out through the rear SS-tipped tailpipes via a massive X-pipe
stainless steel exhaust setup that produces an aggressive, throaty
sound. In addition to the F.A.S.T. Fuel Injection setup, upgraded
Tremec 5 Speed, and beefed up exhaust, this SS-styled Chevelle
Convertible is absolutely loaded with performance and suspension
upgrades! The F.A.S.T. fuel injection throttle body is mounted atop
an Edelbrock Preformer RPM aluminum intake manifold, helping the
engine breathe more effectively. The MSD ignition setup is also a
welcome addition to any vintage muscle car since it greatly
improves reliability over the standard original-type points and
condenser setups. Engine cooling has also been vastly improved
thanks to the addition of an Aluminum radiator that helps dissipate
engine heat much more efficiently. An upgraded rear sway bar paired
with upper and lower tubular A-Arms provide for a better ride
coupled with improved handling. Power is directed from the 454 V8
and Tremec manual transmission to a 12 Bolt positraction rear
differential that is sure to help you keep the rubber to the
pavement while driving. Additionally, several creature comforts
make this Chevelle a truly pleasureful car to take down the road.
Power front disc brakes are a welcome addition to this Chevy
Chevelle, especially with all that extra horsepower and torque.
With power steering, squeezing in and out of a tight parking space
a the local car show or ice cream parlor is a total breeze and the
overall driving experience is much better as well. The black vinyl
power convertible top is in great shape too, and it goes up and
down with the simple flick of a switch. Additionally, when the top
is in the lowered position, it tucks neatly below a brand new black
vinyl boot. Riding on a set of raised letter Goodyear Eagle tires
mounted on Magnum 500 wheels, this '70 Chevelle Convertible has a
fantastic look and even better ride. The exterior of this Chevelle
Convertible has been refinished in beautiful Cranberry Red paint
that is accented with black SS stripes, that together complete the
exterior look of this wonderful muscle car. The interior of this
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible is absolutely stunning! The
front bucket seats and the rear seat have been restored with new
black upholstery. The matching black door panels, black carpeting,
center console, and sport-style steering wheel are all in wonderful
condition as well and retain a great stock appearance. In addition,
the steering wheel is mounted on a tilt steering column which makes
getting in and out of this Chevelle much easier. This Chevelle
Convertible also sports upgraded digital instrumentation comprised
of a 160 MPH speedometer and 8,000 RPM tachometer, both with
digital displays, along with a volt gauge, fuel gauge with digital
clock, temperature gauge, and oil pressure gauge. The black padded
dash is finished off with various controls, a locking glovebox, and
retro-style AM/FM radio. Whether you're buying your very first
classic muscle car or you're looking to add a wonderful driver to
your existing classic car collection, this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle
Convertible would make an excellent choice. Give Ellingson's a call
