If there were an automotive recipe for freedom, more likely than
not, a manual transmission, convertible top, and a classic sporty
look would all be on that list. That's why this 1968 Chevrolet
Corvette Convertible is so captivating. Add to that, this is the
inaugural year for the iconic C3 generation, and this fully
repainted British Green 'Vette, complete with its black vinyl top
and undeniably eye-catching 18-inch American Racing wheels, and you
have an incredibly collectible car.
Inside, we find a stock and mostly original black vinyl interior. A
full-length center console separates a pair of recovered bucket
seats. A three-spoke, wood-rimmed steering wheel shows off a
Crossed Flags center cap as it stands ahead of a vast 160 mph
speedometer and 7,000 rpm tach, while a five-pod set of auxiliary
gauges sits at the top of the center stack. Dial-based HVAC
controls keep things simple, while the aftermarket cueball shift
knob adds just a touch of contrast to keep things interesting.
Under that signature front-hinged hood, we find a 350 cubic-inch
V-8 engine. Topped with a single four-barrel Holley Performance
carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and lightweight aluminum
heads, this small block eliminates spent gases through a set of
long-tube headers and true dual exhaust. Power is routed through a
hardcore Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission before heading
out to the 3.36:1 geared Positraction rear end that transfers those
ponies to the pavement via those aforementioned polished Torq
Thrust II wheels, shod in P225/50R-18 Goodyear Eagle L/S tires.

This 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible rides on an independent
suspension that utilizes unequal-length A-arms, coils, and shocks
up front, while a transverse leaf spring setup is employed in the
rear. Four-wheel disc brakes sit at all four corners, ready to
scrub off speed at a moment's notice. Add it all up and this
stellar C3 offers power and performance in a wind-in-your-hair
drop-top configuration, complete with the ability to row your own
gears and hold onto that lower gear just a little beyond what is
necessary just for the fun of it. Right then and there, you'll
start to realize what true freedom feels like. But don't wait, call
today!
