Highly Original 1934 Chevrolet DB Master pick up truck. The 1934 Chevrolet truck went through a frame off restoration. All of the old wood subframe was removed and replaced with new hardwood. In addition to replacing the wood subframe, minimal body repair was needed. Although very minimal, any Areas of the body that needed attention was cut out and replaced with new sheetmetal welded back in. Once the sheet metal was welded back , the area was lightly skimmed with a very light body filler. Some bumps and bruises, as indicated in the pictures, were left to represent the 90 year old character of the truck. All body parts were removed and individually primed inside and out with 3 coats of epoxy primer then finished off with multiple coats of a glossy single stage metallic gray paint. The 1934 Chevrolet Truck is a great example of a hard to find original. The classic 1934 Chevrolet pickup’s exterior and mechanical state has been, as close as possible, restored to its original days. Along with its period correct restoration, a few new additions were made to the exterior such as LED brake/running lights, as well as small matching vintage bullet style turn signals on the front and rear. Although the restoration on this 1934 Chevrolet was extensive, it is not a show quality restoration; by that I mean there are still some 90 year old bumps and bruises for character. Also, some items replaced such as nuts and bolts, were replaced with new nuts and bolts. The original wiring harness was removed and completely rebuilt with new modern 12 gauge wiring.
On the mechanical side, the 1934 stovebolt 207 6 cylinder engine has 35,600 miles on it. The engine was removed, disassembled, throughly cleaned, and refreshed with new engine gaskets. The engine received a new water pump, fuel pump, aluminum radiator, new carburetor, distributor cap and rotor, condensor, points, plug wires, and spark plugs. The engine is in great running condition.
I originally assumed that this original 1934 truck’s transmission was a 3 speed manual transmission and was original replaced by the previous owner with a unsynchronized 4 speed manual crash box transmission. But, after extensive internet research, it appears that’s some 1934 masters did come from the factory with a 4 speed manual transmission. Although the transmission has been serviced with a new clutch disc, throwout bearing and period correct oil, the transmission works and shifts well but still needs of some mechanical adjustments and service.
The original W-1 Carter carburetor was removed and completely rebuild. However, I replaced the original carburetor with a new modern day Daytona UN2 carburetor. This 1934 Chevrolet DB Master Truck is truly a fantastic collector’s piece!
Originally Manufactured in New York, in 1934, this half-ton Chevrolet DB Master, Closed high Cab Pickup came factory equipped with Chevrolet's stovebolt 207-cubic inch overhead valve inline six. The engine produces 60 horsepower.
The complete frame-off mechanical and cosmetic restoration was complete in February of 2025. It goes without saying that this truck is in pretty good condition, inside and out with some signs of being 90 years old. Since the restoration, this Pickup has not only been driven minimal miles but the truck has also been stored in a climate controlled shop. In addition to the restoration, It was recently treated to 4 brand new tires, 4 powder coated original spoke wheels. This is an excellent example of an important year and model within the history of the Chevrolet truck. Pickup trucks of this era have cornered a lot of interest from collectors, and this example would certainly receive many compliments while out and about.
