Vehicle Description
2011 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 3LT Convertible
"Although most of the Grand Sport's lofty performance can't be
truly realized anywhere but on a racetrack, an environment where
the steering in Corvettes seems to come alive and all the power can
be utilized, the GS convertible is easy to drive and more than
capable for day to day running. The convertible GS is the most
potent drop top Corvette. For 2011, what might appear to be small
news, the availability of a new optional suspension package, is in
reality very significant." Car and Driver, September 2010
For consignment, a 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 3LT
convertible with a title verified 24,336 actual miles. This is a
one owner, garage kept example that will come to you with the build
sheet. The 3LT package includes an upgraded sound system, leather
seats, a heads up display, dual climate zone and more.
Exterior
This shade of blue has been deemed Supersonic Blue Metallic by GM
and is a stunning color on this wedge shaped sports car. The Grand
Sport features an intake scoop on its nose, shark-like gills on the
fenders, and rear brake ducks in the quarter panel. The smooth
decklid extends to widened hips and the tail end retains Corvette's
heritage muscularity with quad round tail lights over quad, center
exit exhaust tips, and our eye is drawn to the red Corvette stamped
into the smooth, blue fascia. A steeply raked windshield follows an
aerodynamic hood and sport mirrors split wide and cant rearward to
thwart the wind. Chrome five spoke wheels are 18-inch in front and
19-inch in back carrying ZR rated tires with a mid 2017 date code.
A navy blue canvas top with a glass window is in great shape. Chin
scrapes on the plastic air dam and minor curb rash on one wheel are
the only imperfections on low mileage beauty.
Interior
The dramatic interior begins with black and light titanium door
panels and the doors have differing pull handles to accommodate the
driver's switch panel. Full leather seats are part of the 3LT
package, here with black borders stitched in white and tuck and
roll titanium inserts with obvious side bolstering and perforations
that allow the heated seats to distribute warmth. A beefy, leather
wrapped steering wheel is served up to the lucky driver who has
full view of the concise gauge cluster flanked by contoured pods of
switches. The center stack is trimmed in simulated carbon fiber
around a screen for navigation and control of the AM/FM/CD unit
with Bluetooth and XM capabilities. Below it, GM's no frills A/C
control panel cleanly integrated just above the center console
which houses the shifter in black boot and this panel eventually
leads back to a platinum colored armrest and storage bin.
Additional storage in the form of leatherette bags hang behind the
seats, under the body colored cowl that hides the soft top. The
trunk is finished with gray carpet and is spotless.
Drivetrain
Clean, black plastic shrouds cover most of the engine, a 6.2 liter
LS3 with 430 horses, fuel injected of course and backed by a 6L80E
6-speed automatic which can be rowed optionally through the paddle
shifters onboard. Power disc brakes are on all four corners and can
clearly be seen through the narrow spokes of the chrome wheels.
Undercarriage
Even with the low mileage, we're greeted with an underside that's
better than expected. It's super clean underneath with very little
evidence of being driven. Most of the real estate is taken up by
aerodynamic belly pans and the dual exhaust with dual mode runs in
tandem through the central tunnel, through the original equipment
mufflers just before terminating at four polished tips. Corvette's
SLA double wishbone suspension with transverse mounted composite
leaf springs make up the complex suspension of front and rear.
Drive-Ability
No surprises here, the clean interior provides a comfortable
cockpit, and the push button start unleashes the 430 horses with a
sweet exhaust note that just gets better with each blip of the
throttle. Brutally quick, solid and surefooted, and born for
curves, this Corvette is an absolute blast to drive. All functions
afforded to the driver and passengers operate as they should,
including the power top. While Classic Auto Mall represents that
these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we
cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of
your purchase.
Here's the complete package, an American legend in a very cool
color, low mileage, and with the 3LT upgrade package. Oh, and the
top goes down! This pampered Vette is ready for weekend jaunts and
special outings, or as Car and Driver suggested, daily drives. Blue
is your color and if this Vette could talk, it would call your
name!
