Here is a nicely restored 1966 Chevelle with all the favorites; big block power, 5-speed transmission, air conditioning, 4-wheel disc brakes, coilover suspension, power accessories, and more.  This rust-free Texas example pulls it all together perfectly with a killer stance and a sleeper 300 body style.  It’s one of those cars that grabs your attention and won’t let go.

This Chevelle was built at the Kansas City plant in September 1965, making it an early build with a very low body number of 43.  It started life as a basic 300 Deluxe 2-door sedan with a straight six engine.  But plenty has changed since then.  As a southern car this one has excellent sheetmetal throughout.  Further, as a post car it has a stronger body that is less prone to flexing and window leaks over the course of almost 60 years.  It was professionally repainted in its original color of Mist Blue which seems the perfect color for this body style, clean and attractive but not overly flashy.  All chrome and trim is excellent.  The Coys Torq-Thrust style wheels wear tires from 2017 with sizes of 235/45R17 front and 275/40R18 rear.

Power comes from a healthy 454ci big block that sounds fantastic and pulls like a train.  It is backed by a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear end.  There is a dual exhaust with Hooker headers and electric cutouts, while the cooling system uses a large Champion aluminum radiator with dual electric fans.  The suspension features QA1 adjustable coilovers all around along with CPP tubular front control arms and an F41 rear arrangement with boxed trailing arms and a stabilizer bar.  You will also find 4-wheel power disc brakes and AGR power steering with Hotchkis adjusters.

The interior was also redone in blue vinyl.  This included the cushions, upholstery, carpet, headliner, door panels, and dashboard.  The front bench seat was retained and really fits the theme of the car.  A few aftermarket items were added starting with the Vintage Air HVAC system which provides heat, defrost, and air conditioning in a single unit.  A 90-degree “knee knocker” tachometer was also installed along with a trio of underdash gauges.  A radio delete plate resides in the dash but a Kenwood Bluetooth sound system is hidden under the seat.  The wipers, washers, horn, headlights, dash lights, backup lights, and emergency brake all work properly too.

There is so much to talk about with this car.  It’s a fantastic looking Chevelle that gets away from the commonplace “SS” theme with something more subdued and less often seen.  But it also has more performance and features than you normally find.  If you’re ready for something beyond the typical Chevelle then this one is worth a look.
