The 1977 Volkswagen Beetle marks a highly historic milestone as the
final model year that the standard Beetle sedan was offered in
North America. While production continued in overseas markets like
Mexico and Brazil for decades, U.S. sales plummeted to just 12,090
units in 1977, making surviving models highly sought after by
collectors. For its final showroom run, Volkswagen gave the standard
Type 1 Beetle several cabin and styling upgrades:- Interior
Enhancements: Redesigned front bucket seats featuring separate
adjustable headrests, enhanced back support, and updated door
panels.- Driver Controls: Redesigned floor pedals and a pneumatic
windshield washer system operated via two-speed wipers.- The
"Champagne Edition": A rare, limited-edition package offered
exclusively for the Beetle Convertible. It featured Alpine White
paint, gold body striping, rosewood dashboard trim, sport wheels,
and white leatherette interior elements.- Exterior Trim:
Characterized by large, late-era chrome bumpers with protective
rubber strips and large "elephant footprint" taillights.Currently
offered at Duncan Imports and Classics, this car has 33 original
miles and still has the factory window sticker in the window.
