1965 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

This rare 1965 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, manufactured in April 1965, is a "brass tag" model, likely sold and titled at a dealership in 1966. The second owner maintained and drove the FJ40 for 45 years in the dry climate of eastern Washington, keeping it largely rust-free. I purchased it in 2023 from a broker who acquired it from the second owner's estate.

Since then, extensive work has been done to restore it to its current condition while preserving its original factory appearance and the unique characteristics of the 1962–1965 "early FJ40s." Tasteful modifications include:

• Gear reduction starter for easier starting
• Rough Country 4" lift kit with four new leaf springs, shocks, and shackles
• Optima Red Top battery
• Four-core aluminum radiator
• Pertronix Flamethrower II ignition coil with Pertronix electronic ignition conversion kit (maintains original look while improving performance and ease of maintenance)
• Three-speed floor shifter (updated from the original column shift)

Notable original features from this FJ40 era include:

• Matching 1F engine
• SD40 "Big Window" carburetor
• "Corrugated" or "ribbed" hard top with split hatch
• Oil bath air filter
• Vacuum shift transfer case (new hoses, fully functional)
• Original working ‘Vader’ light

Numerous updates to the electrical system, interior, and other components have been completed, with a detailed list available upon request.
