1964 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova SS - Real SS Sport Coupe - Upgraded
350 V8 & 4-Speed Manual
This 1964 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova SS is a true Sport Coupe that has
been extensively upgraded for performance while retaining the
classic appeal of the original Super Sport. Originally equipped
with an automatic, it has been thoughtfully converted to a 4-speed
manual and now features a strong-running 350ci small-block V8. With
thousands recently spent on service and upgrades, this Nova is
ready to be enjoyed - whether as a weekend street machine or a
foundation for further refinement.
Exterior:
The car presents as a solid and honest driver with clean, straight
body panels and solid structure. Some blemishes and wear are
present, consistent with an older build - nothing that detracts
from the overall presence. The upgraded stance, headers, and
aggressive exhaust note give this Nova a mean, no-nonsense street
attitude. The factory SS trim remains in place and the car rides on
period-correct wheels that fit the look perfectly. All exterior
lights including headlights, taillights, and brake lights are
functional.
Interior:
Inside, the car is complete and presentable, though not fully
restored. The cabin shows well overall and is certainly usable
as-is, though it would benefit from some attention to detail for a
cleaner finish. Bucket seats, a floor-mounted shifter, and
original-style SS trim complete the sporty package. A new turn
signal switch has been installed but has not yet been wired up.
Under the Hood and Underside:
Power comes from a well-tuned 350ci small-block V8 mated to a
4-speed manual transmission. The car features an MSD total-loss
ignition system, headers, Positraction rear end, and air-adjustable
rear shocks - all of which contribute to an engaging driving
experience. Recent service includes over $4,500 in work with
receipts for the following:
Brake light switch
Radiator cap and new antifreeze
Full brake system overhaul (lines, hoses, booster, wheel
cylinders)
New spark plugs
Oil change and filters
Rear end and transmission fluid service
New belts and hoses as needed
Engine and underside detail paintwork
The underside of the car is very clean, dry, and solid - a clear
indicator of a well-preserved and properly maintained example.
Driving:
Out on the road, this Nova runs and drives beautifully. It makes
excellent power, handles well, and has the sound and feel of a true
street machine. The clutch engages smoothly, the shifter is tight,
and the brakes now perform confidently thanks to the recent
overhaul. With a throaty exhaust note and solid mechanicals, this
car is a blast to drive.
Conclusion:
This is a true 1964 Nova SS Sport Coupe with all the right upgrades
for driving enjoyment. It's not a show car, but it's a super solid,
real-deal SS that's been thoughtfully built, well-maintained, and
owned by a long-term enthusiast for the past 20+ years. Whether
you're looking for a classic to cruise, tinker with, or take to the
next level, this Nova is an excellent place to start - and it's
ready to hit the road.
