1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
Offered for sale is a beautifully preserved and iconic 1965
Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. This second-generation (C2) Sting
Ray has had a frame-off restoration with less than 200 miles since
completion. Initially built in St. Louis, MO, it still represents
the best of 1960s sports car engineering with timeless looks to
match. Under the hood is the legendary CI Turbo-Jet V-8 engine with
a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission which only 2157 examples were
built. The 396ci L78 V8 is equipped with a single four-barrel
carburetor for a factory rating of 425 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of
torque. The exterior is finished in Rally Red (Code UU, WA3395)
with a Black vinyl convertible top. Power is sent to the rear
wheels through the Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a
Positraction limited-slip differential.
Exterior equipment includes a black convertible soft top, flip-up
headlights, chrome bumpers, fender vents, a driver-side mirror, a
side-exit exhaust system, and a retractable antenna.
The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent
suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a
three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. The
underside of this 1965 Corvette received extensive time during
restoration, was thoroughly detailed, and maintains its factory
appearance. The 15? cast aluminum wheels feature knock-off hubs and
are mounted with Firestone-branded goldline tires. Four-wheel discs
handle braking on all four corners.
The cabin features two bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl as
well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. The three-spoke
steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and
auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and
coolant temperature. Amenities include a heater, AM/FM radio, an
analog clock, and lap belts.
