The Sunbeam Alpine was introduced in 1959 and five generations of
the car were produced. The final version, offered in 1964, was
known as the Series V and featured a new 1725-cc engine and many
other mechanical enhancements. Sunbeam produced over 19,000 Series
V Alpines from 1964 through 1967, when Alpine production ceased.
The Series V Alpine was also the basis for the much heralded
Sunbeam Tiger, a Ford V8 powered beast.
This handsome, low-mileage 1967 Alpine Series V roadster was
carefully restored (2016) and is a superb example of this classic
British sports car. The rust-free body was prepped and refinished
in period-correct Carnival Red Acrylic Enamel. Chrome/stainless is
in overall good condition, but bumpers could use a re-chrome (two
sets of bumpers included). Minilite alloy wheels mount 13"
Primewell radials and a new Robbins soft top has been installed.
(Multiple original wheels and two sets of Mustang II sport wheels
included). The interior is very impressive - look at the photos.
New black vinyl upholstery was fitted and other new components
include carpeting, console, door panels, dash pad, seals and trim.
All analog gauges, including the tachometer, perform well. A new
windshield has been installed and the original windshield is
included in the sale.
Power for the Series V roadster is provided by a 1725cc 4-cylinder
engine. It utilizes a 5-main bearing block and a pair of Stromberg
side-draft carburetors. This OHV powerplant was rated at
99hp/103lb-ft. The restoration process included new ignition
components, starter, water pump, radiator/hoses and stainless
exhaust. (Extra engine parts furnished with the car include a
matched set of carbs and original parts listed above.) Electrics
are a 12-volt alternator-based system. The motor resides in a clean
engine compartment and is backed by a 4-speed manual gearbox that
has a reputation as a strong unit. The clutch hydraulic cylinders
were rebuilt and the gas tank was cleaned and resealed. Brakes are
manual disc/drum with new pads/shoes/lines and resurfaced rotors.
The Sunbeam Alpine roadster is rare compared to MG/Triumph models
of the era and stands out from the crowd. If you have wanted a
Series V Alpine, do not delay - this is your Sunbeam roadster. ALL
VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
