Vehicle Description
2006 Ford Mustang GT Coupe
"When the S197 platform was released in 2005, the performance
aftermarket latched on to the car in a way it had never done in the
past. New and exciting go fast components were being released on a
seemingly daily basis. This was an extremely exciting time to be a
Mustang enthusiast, but the performance world was evolving right
before our eyes." MotorTrend, July 2019
For consignment, a 2006 Ford Mustang GT coupe with a title verified
7,941 actual miles. Unlike the car MotorTrend featured in 2019,
this car has a single modification and is presented in its new like
stock configuration. If you missed on buying a 2006 GT new, you
just got a second chance!
Exterior
Ford went all out for the design, reminiscent of the early models
with beefier proportions and a more refined line aspect. The front
of the car is more "aero" designed, and has an integrated body
matching bumper, blackened honeycomb grille with inboard fog
lights, and the ubiquitous galloping pony. All these styling cues
can be seen from way back in 1965 with its grille shape, and rear
tail light configuration. More retro throwback appears with the
triangle shaped quarter glass and small pedestal mounted rear
spoiler. Black is used generously here covering everything from the
door handles to the rear spoiler to the side mirrors which take on
a matte plastic finish. 17-inch wheels retain their original tires
and offer the only contrast to the black other than the GT emblem
on the side. There are several scuffs and a small dent over the
passenger's rear wheel opening which are the only exterior
imperfections we find.
Interior
Black plastic and vinyl come together to cleanly cover the tidy
door panels and the often troublesome inserts are in perfect
condition here. Charcoal cloth makes up the upholstery for the
front buckets and rear 2 plus 2 seats with patterned inserts and
showing no wear as expected for the mileage. A very simple dash
houses another cue, more 60's influence, in the form of the dual
circular embedded instruments behind the leather wrapped steering
wheel. An AM/FM/CD stereo system, A/C, and various switchgear are
smoothly integrated into the center stack, uniformly backed by
black plastic. A leather boot wrapped shifter, cup holders, and
storage bin with a padded armrest topper all share space in the
center console that makes its way past the buckets to the rear 2
plus 2's. Nice black carpet has carpeted factory floor mats which
protect the carpet and out back is a clean charcoal gray felt lined
trunk. Up above, the foam backed headliner is just about
pristine.
Drivetrain
Under the hood sits the spotless 4.6 liter 3 valve V8 rated at a
healthy 300 horsepower and backed by a Tremec 3650 5-speed manual
transmission. Power is routed to the Ford 8.8" rear with 3.55 gears
and TracLoc. This modern pony car has four wheel power disc brakes
for bringing sprints down to a trot.
Undercarriage
Other than some typical oxidation on untreated metal components,
this underside looks as though it left the assembly plant
yesterday. Simply clean with parts labels and wax pencil marks
still in place. The dual exhaust finds an H-pipe and continues on
to FlowMaster mufflers which give way to chrome tips that fit into
the rear valance like butter. Suspension here is made up of coil
springs up front and a 3 link with coil springs and a panhard bar
out back.
Drive-Ability
No surprises here as the 2006 time capsule starts, runs, handles,
and tracks like a new car. Comfortable, quick, and responsive, this
is one you could live with on a daily basis. Naturally, all
functional items on board operate as expected. While Classic Auto
Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of
our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working
at the time of your purchase.
Clean, reliable, fast, and modern. This Mustang GT represents
Ford's legacy of one of the most popular cars in world history.
It's ideal for weekend jaunts, everyday use, or with its sub 10k
mileage, car shows in your region. Every stable should have a black
stallion and this young buck is ready for boarding.
