Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful 1987
Mercedes Benz 560SL in great condition. It looks nice, runs well,
and is a great driver. The market on the 560SL is absolutely red
hot right now and this example is priced to sell. The original
mileage is also verified not only by the condition of the car, but
also by the clear Ohio title, pictured in this ad, showing the
mileage as "Actual."
This 560SL comes with both the soft-top and auxiliary hardtop. This
is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Mercedes that is ready
to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy
this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years
to come as the values are on the rise. This Mercedes is finished in
the absolutely beautiful and highly desirable color combination of
Astral Silver (735) over Burgundy interior (277) with a Black
soft-top (740). This is also the correct and original color scheme
as verified by the codes on the vehicle data plate. Please peruse
all of the photos, video, and other information in this ad to get a
true sense of clean and nice this 560SL really is.
As a side note, this Mercedes is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from
owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the
vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
560SL, just give us a call.
Exterior
The Astral Silver (735) exterior is in good driver condition. As
one can see in the photos, the paint has a nice gloss and smooth
finish. The chrome and other bright-work look great with a
brilliant finish and no major pitting. The original alloy wheels
are in excellent shape with no curb rash, they almost look like
new. The tires have plenty of tread left and are correctly sized
205/65R15. The convertible soft-top is in fantastic condition with
no holes or frayed edges. The rear windows are clear with no
yellowing or fogginess and are not worn in the normal spot where
the windows contact the top mechanism. There are no major blemishes
that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. As one would
expect from a paint job with many years on it there are some small
imperfections, spots, and dings around the car that are too tiny so
show up in the photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from
about five or ten feet away. It is hard to describe without seeing
the car in person, but there are some marks that almost look like
light scratches, but it does not appear on the surface of the
paint, it almost looks like the marks are underneath the surface.
There are a could tiny rust spots behind the right front wheel and
the right rocker. As one can see in the many photos of the
underside, this 560SL is very solid underneath. We have also
included specific photos of the rockers, lower front and rear
quarter panels, and other areas on the car most prone to rust to
show how it looks.
Starting in 1987 Mercedes put a sticker on each cars individual VIN
number on all of the body panels at the factory during assembly.
These original VIN stickers on this 560SL are not the easiest to
read, but are present on all the body parts we checked. The hood,
trunk, both doors, both front fenders, both rear fenders, and both
the front and rear bumper all still have the Mercedes stickers.
This is another excellent sign of originally
Interior
The Burgundy (277) interior of the 560SL is in fantastic condition.
All of the gauges faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are
clear. The seats are in wonderful condition and almost look brand
new with no split seams, holes, or wear. The seat is not overly
worn in the typical area on the bolster where the driver gets in
and out. The headliner for the hardtop is in excellent condition
with no stains or sagging. The carpet looks great with no rips,
major stains, or holes. The original door panels look wonderful
with no cracks or splits, and both door pulls are solid and intact.
The dash has no sun fading, nut does have a few small cracks that
are visible in the photos. The center dash wood panel is a bit
loose. This car has never been smoked in; there is no aroma of
cigarettes what so ever and no burn marks.
The original Mercedes tool kit is still with the car and included
with the sale along with the top wrench. The trunk is very clean
and nicely detailed with the original spare tire, and rim,
jack.
Mechanical
This 560SL appears to be in very nice mechanical condition and it
is ready to be enjoyed. The V8 engine starts right away every time,
runs well, and idles smooth. It is an exceptional driver that feels
great on the road and at highway speeds. In the video one can
observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph,
shifting through all the gears, braking to a stoplight, and going
through some curves. Please note that it runs great, there are no
strange noises or vibrations, and the car performs quite nice
overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or
the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car.
It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine
makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely
detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos.
Please note in the video the dash warning lights; they light up
when the key is first turned on and then go off when the engine is
started. There are no "check engine" lights that stay on. The horn
works as do the fog lights, headlights, brights, turn signals,
interior lights, indicators, dash gauges lights, wipers, and fan.
All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The
a/c does not blow cold so it may need some freon. The power mirrors
work in most directions. The power locks do not work. This Mercedes
has plenty of power with the 5.6 liter V8 engine. Not enough can be
said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car,
especially with the top down on a beautiful day.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1987 560SL is in nice driver condition and is a true
bargain at our asking price. The beautiful original color
combination, the presence of all the VIN tags on all the body
panels, and nice overall condition make this Mercedes particularly
desirable. The market for the R107 body style SL Mercedes is very
strong right now, particularly for the 560SL's and this would be a
great example to own. This Mercedes is a great value and will only
appreciate over time. Someone could easily enjoy this vehicle for
several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with
minimal effort.
Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call
with any questions.
