This 1969 Jaguar E-type Series II 2+2 Coupe was built on September
3,1968, and is one of the earliest known Series II 2+2 known to
exist, it originally received a title identifying it a 1968 model.
This 'mistake' has been retained as part of the car's history,
still shown on the clean Pennsylvania title. Several of the parts
original to the car are indeed from the 1968 model year such as the
water pump, and the cast aluminum intake cross-over. It was sold
new in December of 1969 to a gentleman in Connecticut. In May 1991,
the car was purchased by the current owner. It was then lovingly
restored over 9-years by the owner and received complete body work
refurbishment and is presented in an original factory combination
of beautiful Black paint with Cinnamon leather interior, by Wayne
Tubbs of Hilland Motor Cars in Thornton, PA. The engine and
automatic transmission are original to the car and numbers
matching. The 4.2 Liter 246 HP dual overhead cam inline six
cylinder was fully overhauled and included: cylinders bored over
.030, Mahle pistons, rings, crank ground and polished, new bearings
and seals, cylinder head resurfaced and studs replaced, new valves,
springs, hardened seats, guides, and seals, upper and lower timing
chains, dampers, and guides, new oil pump and drive gear, and
rotating assembly balanced. The four-wheel disc brake calipers were
re-sleeved and fitted with new seals, pistons and rotors, brake
lines, master brake cylinder rebuild, DOT5 silicon fluid, wiring
harnesses, suspension, and cooling components all replaced. The
3-speed Borg Warner transmission was rebuilt with all new internal
components. The rear differential was inspected and tested for run
out and rebuilt with new seals. Every piece of chrome is original
to the car and was re-plated by Martins of Philadelphia. Original
photographs of the body work as well as the rest of the mechanical
equipment can be supplied for review. Every part, every nut and
bolt were removed and restored to original specifications, fit and
finish. Parts that were beyond repair were replaced with the most
original replacements available.
It was then shown extensively winning in local and national shows
and Concours events. Notable First Place awards include:
