Vehicle Description
This 2001 Honda Prelude Type SH is a remarkably preserved example
of Honda's precision engineering at the turn of the millennium.
Finished in Nighthawk Black Pearl over black cloth upholstery with
patterned inserts, this final-year Prelude has traveled just 4,900
miles since new. Originally delivered to Thelen Honda in Bay City,
Michigan, it remained with its original owner in Ohio until 2015
and has since been kept in exceptional condition under careful
stewardship. With a clean Carfax, clean title, and extensive
documentation, it stands out as a truly collector-worthy
example.
At its heart is the 2.2-liter H22A4 DOHC VTEC inline-four,
factory-rated at 200 horsepower and paired with a five-speed manual
transaxle. As a Type SH model, it features Honda's advanced Active
Torque Transfer System (ATTS), which delivers sharper cornering
dynamics through torque vectoring. The SH also benefits from
stiffer springs, revised dampers, and thicker anti-roll bars
compared to the standard Prelude. In March 2024, the car received a
major service, including a new timing belt, balance shaft belt,
accessory belts, water pump, and fresh oil and coolant, along with
brake and power steering fluid flushes.
The exterior retains its deep, glossy factory Nighthawk Black Pearl
finish, accented by a power glass sunroof, body-color mirror caps,
a rear spoiler, and twin exhaust outlets. The car rides on its
original 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, wrapped in Bridgestone
Potenza RE92 tires with 2000 date codes, highlighting the
originality throughout. All panels and trim show excellent fit and
finish, and the overall presentation is consistent with the
Prelude's incredibly low mileage.
Inside, the cabin is equally well-preserved, with patterned cloth
seats showing virtually no wear and all switchgear operating as it
should. Factory features include air conditioning, cruise control,
a CD stereo, and Prelude-branded floor mats. The leather-wrapped
steering wheel sits ahead of a 150-mph speedometer, large
tachometer, and auxiliary gauges, with the six-digit odometer
reading just 4,900 miles.
Accompanying the sale are the original window sticker,
manufacturer's literature, complete service records, two master
keys, a valet key, a learning key, and four remote fobs. With its
purity, rarity, and desirability as the top-spec model in its final
production year, this Prelude Type SH is a standout example ready
for a new enthusiast to appreciate.
