1972 Hurst Grand Prix SSJ – 1 of 60, PHS documented
Downsizing forces sale of this ultra-rare Hurst Grand Prix. The 1972 version was the lowest model year production run of 60 cars that were sent from Pontiac directly to Hurst for the SSJ conversion. This car is PHS documented as one of those 60.
This car was rescued by its former owner in 2005, and underwent a professionally done body-on restoration over the next several years. I purchased this car in 2017, to complete its needed mechanical restoration to drive-able condition. It’s journey through restoration is documented by a large photo album and receipts dating from 2005 to finish in 2025.
The PHS documentation is pictured, along with the Protect-o-Plate. It retains its original motor (see pics) and drivetrain, along with the Hurst added options that are visible in the photos.
Because of the very low production numbers, 1972 SSJ’s do not come up for sale very often and are highly sought-after, especially in this quality condition. The finished photos and videos of the car were taken in July of 2025.
The price represents its condition and rarity. The car is located in NW Illinois with a clear IL title in hand. Miles on the car is unknown because previous titles did not document the mileage on transfers. I will answer questions by email from serious collectors, but I am not interested in trades, consignment dealers, low-ballers or picture collectors.
The car is listed for sale on multiple websites and I do have a real day-job, so be patient in waiting for a reply to your specific questions that are not already answered by the PHS and photo documentation.
