Vehicle Description
This 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE is an absolutely stunning, real
deal Mopar muscle car with great options and an eye-catching "High
Impact" look! 1970 is widely considered the pinnacle of the
American muscle car era. While Dodge had already cemented itself in
the performance market with models like the Charger and Coronet, it
had yet to introduce a true contender in the emerging pony car
segment. That all changed when Dodge unveiled the Challenger-its
bold entry into a space dominated by cars like the Ford Mustang
(which kicked off the pony car craze in mid-1964), the Chevy
Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, Mercury Cougar, and AMC Javelin. These
compact, aggressive-looking cars offered big performance in sporty,
affordable packages, and consumers couldn't get enough. Dodge's
all-new 1970 Challenger was a hit right out of the gate, with over
84,000 units sold in its first year. The styling was unmistakable:
a wide, recessed grille gave the front end a menacing stance, while
muscular "Coke-bottle" body lines and flared rear quarters gave it
a powerful silhouette. Out back, the design took a futuristic turn
with full-width tail lamps flanking a center-mounted Dodge badge.
Dodge also offered a range of trim levels to appeal to every
buyer-from the budget-friendly "Deputy," to the luxurious "SE," and
the high-performance "R/T" and "T/A" models. With the Special
Edition SE Package, the Challenger SE came equipped with numerous
trim upgrades including a vinyl roof with special badging along
with a distinctive formal rear window that was touted as creating
more privacy. Additionally, the SE interiors offered a higher trim
level complete with special high back bucket seats, elevated
woodgrain and carpeted door panels with unique SE badges, and
perhaps most famously, a distinctive headliner complete with the
aircraft-inspired "Consolette" with additional indicators for "low
fuel," "door ajar," and "fasten seat belts" warning occupants of
these conditions. The Challenger R/T in particular featured
performance-focused upgrades like heavy-duty brakes, potent V8
engine options, unique R/T badging, and the upscale Rallye
instrument cluster. For many enthusiasts, the 1970 Dodge Challenger
R/T remains one of the most iconic muscle cars of all time-a true
legend born at the height of Detroit's horsepower wars. This
particular Challenger R/T/SE is said to have sold new in Colorado
and is believed to have spent the majority of its life in the
Western state. Under the hood-pin secured, blacked-out hood on this
'70 Challenger RT/SE is a period-correct 383 cubic inch V8 engine
fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor. Exhaust exits this Mopar's big
block power plant via a set of tubular headers and out through a
dual exhaust system that sounds fantastic! The 383 big block V8 is
backed by a 4 speed manual transmission that is shifted with an
iconic woodgrain-trimmed Pistol Grip shifter that makes this
classic Dodge muscle car a fantastic car to take on a cruise and go
through the gears! This 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE comes
absolutely loaded with options! You can be sure that you'll be able
to keep the rubber to the pavement thanks to the Dana "Sure Grip"
limited slip rear differential. Additionally, this RT/SE Challenger
comes equipped with power steering, making a tight squeeze into a
parking spot at the local car show or drive-in a total breeze.
Further aiding with parking efforts is a driver's side chrome
mirror that helps maintain full visibility while parking and also
while making lane changes. Riding on a set of raised letter
BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires mounted on Magnum 500 wheels with
correct center caps, this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T has a fantastic
look and even better ride. The exterior of this RT/SE Challenger
has been correctly refinished in beautiful Top Banana "High Impact"
paint that is complemented by the correct and gorgeously restored
black vinyl top, completing the exterior look of this fantastic
Dodge muscle car. The interior of this 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE
is absolutely stunning! Up front, the driver and passenger sit in
high-back bucket seats that have been correctly reupholstered in
black, with passengers in the rear sitting on a reupholstered black
bench seat. A woodgrain-trimmed center console separates the front
high-back bucket seats and houses the woodgrain pistol-grip
shifter, seat belt holders, and a storage compartment. The black
upholstered door panels, black carpeting and floor mats, black
padded dash, and functioning "Rim-Blow" steering wheel are all in
wonderful condition and retain a nice stock appearance. The
woodgrain-trimmed Rallye gauge cluster is outfitted with a 150 MPH
speedometer, 8,000 RPM tachometer, oil pressure gauge, temperature
gauge, amp gauge, fuel gauge, and clock, along with controls for
the variable-speed windshield wipers and electric washers, heater
controls, and a instrument panel dimmer. You'll be able to listen
to all of your tunes since this RT/SE Challenger comes outfitted
with an upgraded Audiovox AM/FM/Cassette entertainment system.
