For Sale: 1962 Ford Galaxie in Savannah, Georgia

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this remarkably original and well-preserved 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Town Sedan. Finished in Sandshell Beige, digital paint meter readings indicate original paint on every panel, except for below the beltline trim on the left rear door and quarter panel. This is an exceptionally straight and solid survivor that remained under single-family ownership until about 10 years ago; the present owner acquired the car in 2016 from an intermediary of the original owner's estate. Excellent bumpers, trim, lenses and glass. Original underside has never been undercoated and is showing minor surface rust, but no known rot. Factory steel wheels with hubcaps got new tires two years ago.

Interior is a study in preservation, with believed-to-be original materials remaining on every surface. Excellent door panels, dash, steering wheel, seat upholstery and headliner. Minor wear (due primarily to age, not use) on carpets and rubber floor mats. All gauges (including instrument backlights) and lights are working. Window regulators operate smoothly and easily. The trunk liner is in pristine original condition. Jack and spare appear to never have been used.

Under the hood is a Z-code 390 cubic inch V8 mated to a smooth-shifting Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Optioned with power steering. New mufflers four years ago; recent oil service. Starts easily and runs and drives well. Chassis feels solid and smooth with no shakes, rattles, clunks or squeaks - very much what you would expect for a low-mileage car. The original factory inspection stamps are still present on the cowl under the hood. Unfortunately we do not have records from the first owner's estate that would conclusively prove the mileage, but based on how original the car is both inside and out we believe the indicated mileage of just 33,802 is correct.

Sometimes the term "survivor" implies a certain amount of patina bordering on shabbiness. Not so in this case - this is a true time capsule that still looks great inside and out and drives like a new car of its era would.Original owner's manual and two sets of original keys are included.
