want a 1967 Corvette Convertible but don't want to deal with the
typical issues that come with owning a classic car, a restomod like
this one is the way to go. A proper restomod preserves the timeless
lines of the original while incorporating modern engineering
underneath and this little red custom Corvette is a textbook
example of how to do it right. If it weren't for the sporty wheels,
a casual observer might even mistake it for an original. It is most
definitely not original but in many ways, it's even better.Built on
a Coffman Corvette chassis, the underside features
double-adjustable coilover shocks and brakes from a C6 Z06
(including calipers and rotors), giving it supercar-level handling.
Under the hood is a new 495 HP LS3 engine, cleverly dressed to
resemble the original L71 427/435 HP. Unless you look closely and
spot the fuel rails, you'd swear it came from the factory that
way.The original 4-speed transmission has been replaced with a
smooth-shifting Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed overdrive paired with a
GM clutch, offering improved drivability and performance. The
interior has been tastefully upgraded while retaining a
factory-fresh look. There's rack-and-pinion steering on the new
chassis, and so a Flaming River tilt column has been added, making
entry and exit easie into the white leather headrest bucket seats
in the cockpit. A Dakota Digital RTX gauge cluster and clock now
take the place of outdated originals, and the radio has been
upgraded with Bluetooth capability. To enhance comfort, the car
features Vintage Air Gen IV climate control. The original emergency
brake lever has been replaced with a push-button electronic unit,
and the console switches still operate the power windows. Known
reliability issues with the factory headlight and wiper motors have
been resolved using Detroit Speed motor kits.As you can see, the
upgrades on this Corvette provide modern amenities that make it
more enjoyable, safer, and more reliable to drive, all while
staying true to the original design. It still wears all the factory
badging, trim, and even side pipes, but now you can get in and
confidently drive it anywhere.
