Recently rebuilt engines don't always find their way into classic
pickups, but this 1951 Ford F-1 in red paint received exactly that
upgrade with approximately 2,000 miles since completion. Chrome
American Racing wheels measuring 18 inches up front and 20 inches
out back create a staggered setup wrapped in 245/40R18 front and
275/45/R20 rear rubber. Front bumper delete and upgraded headlights
give this F-1 a clean appearance while real wood planks line the
bed with a lift-up panel that reveals the air ride system
components underneath.
Inside the cab, tan and beige leather covers the bench seat in a
custom two-tone configuration. Custom tilt column holds a
classic-style steering wheel, while Lokar floor shifter and billet
pedals occupy the driver area. Classic-style gauges fill the
instrument panel, and the E-Level by Accuair controller mounted on
the dash manages air ride adjustments. Manual crank windows operate
smoothly, and seatbelts secure occupants. Door panels match the
seat materials with proper fit and finish throughout the interior.
Provisions for air conditioning are present, but currently it is
blowing warm, so will need servicing to blow cold again.
Under the hood, a 302 V8 from a 2001 Explorer now runs with
approximately 2,000 miles since the rebuild. Headers and mild
performance cam handle breathing duties, while 4-speed AOD
automatic transmission manages gear changes. Air bag suspension
front and rear with adjustable controller allows multiple ride
heights from low show stance to practical driving position and
power steering and power front disc brakes handle control duties.
An aluminum radiator with electric fan manage cooling, while side
exit exhaust provides the proper sound.
