Vehicle Description

This 1969 739 actual miles Camaro began as a Z/28 model that was ordered new on April 29, 1969 by Chuck Hamilton of Millington, Tennessee from Curtis Person Chevrolet. As recorded on the order form, Hamilton specified, hugger orange paint, black vinyl upholstery, soft-ray tinted glass, a centre console, posi traction rear axle, power front disc brakes, special instrumentation, AM radio, manual rear antenna, style trim group, special interior group, and “special performance equipment” meaning the Z/28 package. Hamilton traded in a 65 Chevrolet and 67 Camaro to purchase his new Z/28 at his local Chevy dealer, the very same Curtis Person Chevrolet in 1969.

According to the documentation, the car was drag raced by Mr. Hamilton until it was sent to Motion Performance in New York for an extreme conversion in 1974. Below are the details:
1969 Motion converted “ZLX“ Camaro An original hugger orange Z/28, converted in 1974 by motion performance to a phase III Camaro “ZLX“ drag car. This conversion at the time cost approximately $12,000 “making it one of the most expensive and extreme conversions done during that era” (quote from Joel Rosen). The “ZLX“ conversion package included a dual four barrel, 427 cubic-inch tunnel ram engine, along with special ZLX open chamber aluminum heads, Liberty transmission, and several suspension modifications. Specifications: Motion Performance phase III “ZLX” conversion. 427 cubic-inch tunnel ram engine, aluminum heads, dual four barrel. Original Motion installed Liberty transmission, Motion Performance suspension modifications, Fiberglass body panels and quarters that have been modified to fit the rear tires. 735 original miles Documentation: Two certified letters of authenticity from Joel Rosen, President of Motion Performance.
