Bel Air Fuelie 283/283HP Matching Numbers! Presenting the "Fuelie
Fury," a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop with authentic Bonneville
Salt Flats pedigree and a rare level of originality. Built at the
Van Nuys, California plant and sold new on July 22, 1957 by Don
Steves Chevrolet in La Habra, this California car was raced at the
1958 Bonneville time trials under the name Automotive Specialties,
where it recorded an impressive 135.95 MPH-a feat commemorated by
its dash-mounted timing tag and accompanying period photo.
Originally owned by George Miller and inherited by the current
seller from his estate in 2020, this Bel Air remains remarkably
well-documented and preserved. The matching-numbers 283/283 HP
Fuelie V-8 engine was rebuilt by the Vrbancic Brothers of Ontario,

engine retains its original block with updated pistons and features
a factory fuel injection unit (no. 7014960) rebuilt by Smith.
Additional highlights include a date-code correct Harrison
radiator, original 905 distributor, rebuilt 3-speed manual
transmission, factory air scoop, and original cut-out bracket for
the opposing hood-mounted divider. It's been refinished in its
original code 793 Black with a refurbished Matador Red interior,
original brightwork and glass, rebuilt dash and gauges, functional
clock, and a new Wonderbar radio. Recent updates include a rebuilt
wiper motor and Electro Vac switch, rebuilt heater, new brakes and
NOS master cylinder, updated axle bearings, and a new wiring
harness. Accompanied by original documentation such as the original
bill of sale from 1957, payment coupons, registration slips,
