For Sale: 1970 Mercury Cougar in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This Cougar has the looks! Scoops, spoilers and stripes! It is a pleasure to drive to with a/c and a strong 351.

EXTERIOR: I get the impression this is a good solid body. It appears to be very dry, there's no bubbles or rust showing anywhere. It lines up very nicely, it is straight. It's decked out with front and rear spoilers, sport mirrors, a scoop on the hood and racing pins. A cool factory feature you don't get on a Mustang are retractable headlights and sequential tail lights. Repainted a real good looking Grabber Green with a smooth glossy finish. It's trimmed out with the Eliminator striping. It has new bumpers, convertible opening trim, door handles, hood locks and rear marker lights. The convertible top and boot were just replaced. It has original glass. Upgraded LED headlights. The black convertible top is power and has a glass rear window. Reproduction 15 inch chrome Magnum wheels were the perfect choice.

INTERIOR: The white interior looks great against the Grabber Green, very refreshing color combo. The dash area is very clean, unabused, not broken or beat up. The vents, dash pad, instrument panel are great. It has a factory AM-FM radio and rim blow horn that work. The center console with a floor shifter all looks great. The upholstery, front and back looks sharp. The door panels are very good, they each have a nick on the edge. The dash lights were just upgraded to LED.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: I'm going to guess the 351 Windsor was just rebuilt because it looks absolutely fresh and runs so nice. New aluminum intake, Edelbrock carb and a new DUI performance distributor. It is dressed with some new finned aluminum valve covers. The belts, hoses, plugs and wires were recently replaced. Upgraded aluminum radiator. All the components look proper and clean. It is complete with horns, washer fluid bottle and battery hold down. It features factory air conditioning, power steering and the power brakes have a new booster. All the metal surfaces are clean and painted very neatly. The shock support is chromed. It's a good looking motor compartment.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted very smooth and glossy. Inside the trunk is painted the same color too. It has a reproduction mat, weatherstrip and sticker. 5th matching new Magnum wheel and Firestone tire for a spare.

UNDERSIDE: The suspension was rebuilt, 4 new shocks. The power steering was just completely. It has new disc brakes at all four wheels, e-brake assembly is hooked up. New stainless exhaust with Borla mufflers. Looking up at the motor it looks spotless, starter and fuel pump look fresh. It's original Cruise-O-Matic trans was just rebuilt and given a Quickshift kit. Original 3.00 traction lock rear end, the tag is still attached. The floors and frame rails all appear to be very solid metal.

SERVICE: We inspected the car and replaced the fuel pump and fuel line going to the carb. We repaired the a/c by replacing the expansion valve and compressor then charge the system.

My daughter was walking through the showroom and took a picture of this car, texted it to me and said "It's hot"! I do agree with her. It has the looks and it has the features that make it a great driver. Someone will get a lot of enjoyment out of this one.
