Diesel long-bed pick-up. We recently acquired this truck from the
family of the original owner and it boasts a clean CarFax and a
mere 61,778 actual miles! If you're hunting for a good-looking
classic full-size diesel truck with great towing capacity, plenty
of creature comforts, and literally hundreds of thousands of miles
of life yet to go - then you can call off the search because we
have your truck!
This F250 comes to us today dressed in what appears to be its
original Teal paint, still in good driver condition. Up front
you'll find an eggcrate grille with a chrome surround and blue oval
Ford badge above a gleaming chrome bumper. Peeking out from under
the bumper are a pair of trumpet horns that are currently
inoperative. As you move around to the side of the truck you'll see
bright windshield trim, "F250 Diesel" fender badges, dual extended
side mirrors for towing, dual gas fill doors (for the dual gas
tanks), and Owens Classic XLR200 series running boards and wheel
lip extensions. Atop the bed is a Glasstite cap that features
slider windows and roof rails. The side view is further enhanced by
cream-painted steel wheels with dog-dish caps all wrapped in brand
new Firestone Transforce HT2 tires. Wrap-around taillights lead you
around back where there is a flat-finish diamond plate rear bumper,
white "FORD" tailgate lettering, and a Reese towbar. Lift up the
rear cap window, drop the tailgate, and look inside to discover two
full spares, a collection of shop manuals for the truck,
miscellaneous hoses, belts, and parts, a wood storage shelf, and
wood storage boxes.
Under the hood is a stock-looking engine bay that is home to a
420ci 6.9 liter International V-8. 1983 was the first year that
Ford used a diesel engine in their trucks. This naturally aspirated
V-8 was factory-rated at 150hp and 285 lb-ft of torque. While under
the hood you can see that this truck is equipped with power
steering, power front disc and rear drum brakes, and working A/C.
The engine is mated up to a factory 4-speed manual transmission
that sends power to the rear wheels.
When you open the drivers door, the overhead courtesy light pops on
to illuminate a very well-kept interior. The blue molded plastic
door panels are in very good condition, as is the black rubber
floor covering. The blue and striped cloth bench seat is
exceptionally nice - comfortable and flawless. Rising up from the
floor ahead of the seat is a shifter for the 4-speed manual with a
pattern shift ball and black boot. Ahead of the driver is an OEM
steering wheel with faux woodgrain trim and fingertouch cruise
controls. The wheel fronts a crack-free original dash with more
faux wood trim around the gauges, stereo, and HVAC controls. The
gauges include fuel, temp, battery, and oil pressure as well as a
speedometer. An aftermarket tachometer has been mounted to the
steering column. Within the wood trim area are also controls for
the lights and 2-speed wipers. In the center of the dash are an
AM/FM Ford stereo that plays through speakers in the doors and dash
and easy to use controls that crank out hot heat and cold A/C with
a strong fan. There is also a switch to move from one gas tank to
the other. Mounted under the dash are a Kelsey Hayes trailer brake
controller and both a yellow pull-switch and small black box whose
purposes are unknown. In the glovebox you'll find an original
owners manual.
