The 1953 Cadillac Series 62 Sport Coupe was an American luxury car
known for its distinctive styling and powerful V8 engine. It was
part of the popular Series 62 line, which saw a redesign that year
with features like redesigned grilles, "eyebrow" headlamp doors,
and one piece rear windows. The Sport Coupe, along with the
convertible, was a popular choice among buyers, and the Series 62
as a whole accounted for a large portion of Cadillac's production
that year.
For auction, a 1953 Cadillac Series 62 sport coupe showing 67,263
miles, but the true miles are unknown. This car presents in barn
find condition with missing parts, rust holes in the floor, and an
interior that has been ravaged by rodents.
Exterior
This once stately ride was once glossy black but now suffers the
effects of time with dull paint and a lot of surface rust, missing
trim and tail light lenses, and some dents. On a positive note, the
trim around the rear windows, including the C-pillar ornamentation,
is in decent shape. It lacks a bumper and a driver's side door and
the wheels are rust colored.
Interior
The stuffing of the torn seats has been pulled out and piled up,
front and rear. The headliner is torn up and hanging down while the
horizontal surfaces including door headers and package tray are
worn and weathered. The speedometer, odometer, clock, knobs and
panels might be salvageable from the dash as well as some
surrounding hardware. As mentioned, the floors are rusted.
Drivetrain
It's dirty and parts are rusted but here's the 331ci V8 under the
hood, originally rated at 210 horses, and topped by a 4-barrel
carburetor. A 3-speed manual transmission is on board and 3.07
gears in the rear differential.
Undercarriage
A single exhaust carries a stock style muffler, suspension consists
of coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back, and drum
brakes are supplied to each of the four wheels.
Drive-Ability
There are no keys associated with this car.
