1949 Chrysler Royal 6 Series C45 Sedan
Chrysler had a well developed range of pre war automobiles to offer
the public when peacetime resumed following World War II. With
minor revisions to styling and equipment, Chrysler's immediate post
war lineup included the entry level Royal, the Windsor, Saratoga,
and top of the line New Yorker. Styling changes would be minimal
from 1946 to 1949 when Chrysler introduced its first postwar all
new styling change.
Up for auction, a 1949 Chrysler Royal 6 Series C45 sedan showing
98,926 miles, but the true miles are unknown. The car presents in
barn find condition and there are no keys for the car.
Exterior
Thunder Gray paint would be the primary coverage here with areas of
oxidation and fading, missing trim, hazy tail light lenses and
pitted chrome. The car has fantastic lines with extended fenders, a
tall cabin area, and robust chrome components on the grille and
front bumper. Most of the glass is intact, however there is a crack
on the left windshield. All four wheel covers are present, but
tires are mixed with one whitewall out of the four.
Interior
Materials on the door are stained and torn. All of the hardware is
present with a few missing handles. Both the front and rear bench
seats are badly damaged and the floor is barren with some area of
surface rust. The dashboard shows some damage as well as typical
barn find like conditions. In the trunk, lots of exterior trim is
stowed and a jack is present.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a very dirty but complete 250.6ci L-head inline
six cylinder, originally rated at 116 horsepower, fueled by a
1-barrel carburetor and tied to a 3-speed manual with power being
routed to the rear axle and 3.90 gears. Drum brakes are supplied to
each wheel.
Undercarriage
Coil spring suspension would be used up front with leaf springs in
the rear. A single exhaust would flow through a stock style
muffler.
