1966 Ford Mustang Hardtop
Advertisements became popular reminders of the Mustang's youthful
spirit, such as one featuring two mature adults sitting in a new
Mustang with the words, "Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime
to waste it on children.". The 1966 Ford Mustang was the car to
have if you were looking to win over your neighbor or hit the road
for fun and adventure.
Up for auction is a 1966 Ford Mustang hardtop showing 15,374 miles,
but the true miles are unknown. The car presents in good condition
but will not crank.
Exterior
The single stage Rangoon Red shines bright on this car and is
adorned with good metal work including the chrome bumpers. Someone
took some time to restore this car and the exterior is in nice
shape with straight panels, good gaps, and proper ornamentation
including the rear quarter duct trim which caps off the body line
synonymous with Mustangs of the era. 14-inch wheels are dressed up
with wire wheel covers.
Interior
It's red on red here and starts with vinyl door cards on red
painted frames of the inner doors and both are in nice condition.
Red vinyl bucket seats also present nicely and have polished frames
that pop backed in the red. The rear bench repeats both condition
and color and even the side walls glisten with glossy red paint. An
added dash pad is a different shade of red but in good shape, and
hovers over the red dash and oval instrument cluster with five
gauges, mirrored in shape and color by the glove box. Red loop
carpet on the floor is also used to finish the entire trunk.
Drivetrain
Red is brought into the engine bay where the valve cover and air
filter case wears the hue and tops a 200ci inline six cylinder,
fueled by a 1-barrel carburetor and rated at 120 horsepower. A
3-speed manual sends power to the Ford 7.25" rear with 3.20 gears
while drum brakes all around are the reins that slow this pony
down.
Undercarriage
Single exhaust with a stock style muffler is on board along with
coil springs in front and leaf springs in the back for the
suspension.
Drive-Ability
The engine does not crank.
