1963 Ford Falcon Futura 2 Door Sedan
To promote the new model, Ford secured advertising licensing rights
from cartoonist Charles Schulz. The Ford advertising staff wanted
to use the "Peanuts" characters in a variety of print ads and
commercials. Schulz agreed to work with Ford on the Falcon
campaign. Between 1960 to 1965, Ford paid an annual licensing fee
for exclusive rights to have the Peanuts gang speak about the new
features of the Ford Falcon. The popular new Falcon models were
powered by a six cylinder engine and priced at $1,975."

Up for auction is a 1963 Ford Futura two door sedan showing 69,796
miles, but the true miles are unknown. It appears that someone
started restoration efforts because this car presents as very clean
and new looking components on the interior, along with aged parts
with plenty of patina.
Exterior
Medium Blue Metallic paint is accented with some fantastic 60's add
ons like the faux scoop on the hood, fender ornaments, a
wonderfully simple grille, spear trim that runs front to back at
the midline, a similar trim piece on the latch panel in back, and
even some C-pillar base trim for this little commuter. Round
headlights are countered with round tail lights, distinct for Ford
in this period. Both bumpers are painted blue here and all wheel
covers are present on each of the 13-inch wheels.
Interior
The driver's side door panel is missing and the passenger's side is
rough but shows remnants of a very cool design. The front blue
vinyl bucket seats look just about brand new and the rear bench is
in great shape too but presents in a different shade of blue, while
rear sidewalls show patina. A stitched dash pad up top also is in
like new condition while the dash itself looks original and aged,
as is the steering wheel. Blue loop carpet is dirty but otherwise
in good shape and a shifter rises from the floor hump with a rubber
boot. We note some filler in the door jambs.
Drivetrain
Dirty but complete, the 260ci V8 under the hood wears red valve
covers and air filter casing, and is rated at a respectable 164
horsepower. A 2-barrel feeds its fuel and a 4-speed manual rows
this car into gear and sends power to the Ford 8" rear with 3.25
gears. Drum brakes are found front and rear.Undercarriage
A single exhaust wears a stock style muffler and suspension
consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back.
Drive-Ability
This car cranks but does not start. With no title, you have the
option of borrowing parts from this car for your restoration
project as there is some usable stuff here, especially those
beautiful front seats.
