1969 Cadillac DeVille Convertible
The 1969 Cadillac DeVille convertible was a luxurious full size
convertible known for its smooth ride and powerful engine. The car
included a power operated convertible top, power windows, and power
seats as standard features. It was a popular choice with over
16,000 units produced. The 1969 DeVille convertible was part of a
redesigned Cadillac line, and some reviewers say the 1969 DeVille
convertible is one of the last great Cadillacs before a stylistic
shift in the 1970s.
Up for auction is a 1969 Cadillac Deville convertible showing
35,192 miles, but the true miles are unknown. The car presents in
good condition, cranks, and runs on starting fluid.
Exterior
The car presents with San Mateo Red single stage paint and wears a
white canvas top with missing rear window. Long slab sides are
classically Cadillac and pointed fenders define the front edges
that flank the quad tail lights and large grille. In back, remnants
of Cadillac fins are seen in the pointed fenders which end with the
vertical tail light. Other than a few dings on the rear bumper, the
chrome is generally good on the car. 15-inch chrome wire wheels are
wrapped in 235/75R15 tires.
Interior
Nicely preserved white leather covers the smooth split bench up
front as well as the sizable rear bench. White on the doors is also
clean and augmented with simulated wood inserts and brushed
aluminum trim plates on the switchgear, underscored by black carpet
kick panels below. The dashboard shows some slight patina with some
fading trim paint, but the woodgrain faceplate is decent and houses
a horizontal speedometer with the A/C panel and AM/FM radio
residing within reach on the mid panel. The open floor is covered
with clean, black carpet.
Drivetrain
A clean engine bay houses the 472ci V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor
and a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the
rear axle and 2.94 gears. Power brakes are configured as front
discs and rear drums.
Undercarriage
Coil spring suspension is up front with a 4 link and coil springs
in the back. The exhaust would be a single system with a stock
style muffler.
Drive-ability
The car cranks and runs on starting fluid.
