1931 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan
The Tudor sedan body style was one of the first Model A body
styles. In fact, the "mysterious new Ford" seen on the streets of
Detroit in the fall of 1927 was indeed the new Model A Tudor sedan.
The most popular of all Model A body styles, the Standard Tudor was
available in all four Model A years, with well over 1.25 million of
them being built between 1927 and 1931.
Up for auction is a 1931 Model A Tudor Sedan that presents in good
condition with decent paint and a clean interior. It cranks but
would not start.
Exterior
Tacoma Cream on the body is augmented by Thorn Brown which covers
the fenders and the accent stripe that encircles the cabin, rises
on the C-pillar, and shoots across the hood. 19-inch wire wheels
wear the same Tacoma Cream, including the fifth wheel mounted on
back for a nice look while the car is sandwiched by black running
boards and the rubberized roof panel. A visor looms over the
vertical windshield while tall side windows provide a nice
greenhouse and privacy is afforded by wide C-pillars and a smaller
rear window. Headlights flank the legendary grille and a single
tail light exists in the back, as was standard.
Interior
Mohair like door panels are in good condition with map pockets and
remaining hardware. Brown velour coverings top the bucket seats up
front and the rear bench, both in decent shape and the rear side
walls and ceiling are neatly covered with the tan mohair of the
door. Ford's four spoke steering wheel fronts the standard
configuration where a single instrument cluster is located in the
center of the steel dashboard while the shifter and handbrake are
floor mounted, surrounded by a rubberized mat.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a complete 201ci inline four cylinder, rated at
40 horsepower, and distributing fuel via a 1-barrel carburetor. A
3-speed manual gets the car in gear and sends power to the rear
axle with a 3.78 ratio. Mechanical drum brakes on all four wheels
are present.
Undercarriage
The single exhaust under the car meets a stock style muffler where
it then terminates under the car. Transverse leaf springs are
utilized on the front and rear for suspension.
Drive-Ability
This attractive vintage car cranks but will not start for us.
Someone with the knowledge is going to get a great car that is
practically show ready.
