The 1951 Chevrolet Fleetline Sport Coupe is a two door fastback
model known for its smooth curves and chrome/stainless steel trim.
It was part of the Chevrolet Special and Deluxe series, built on
the GM 'A' body. The Fleetline Sport Coupe featured a distinctive
fastback design, setting it apart from the standard sedan
shape.
For consignment, a 1951 Chevrolet Fleetline sport coupe that
presents in good condition with unknown mileage. This car cranks
but won't start.
Exterior
A slight forward lean and trailing trim gives this car motion while
standing. Finished in red, it features fender trim behind the front
wheel and a gravel guard ahead of the rear and along with the
decorative trim spear on the side, presents a dramatic and
attractive profile. In back, the bulbous deck lid rises higher than
the rear fenders while small tail lights in metal nacelles cap the
end of the fenders over a heavy wrap-around chrome bumper. Heavy
metal lives up front as well where a robust grille frame houses
marker lights over another big bumper. An impressive hood ornament
surges forward on the nose, continuing the appearance of momentum
on the static car. White wall tires are accompanied by hubcaps and
beauty rings on the wheels.
Interior
The car is missing door panels while striped gray cloth covers the
split bench up front and the bench in back, both in fair condition.
An ivory steering wheel with full horn ring front a gray painted
dash cover over two gauges that straddle the steering column and
provide the driver with six points of information. Chrome grates
adorn the center under an integrated clock and the floor has no
covering.
Drivetrain
The carburetor and battery are the only items not spared red paint,
which covers the bay and engine end to end. Under that red paint, a
216.5ci inline six cylinder putting out 92 horsepower and fueled by
the 1-barrel carburetor. A 3-speed manual is on board and would
route power to the 4.11 gears in back. Drum brakes are equipped on
the front and back wheels.
Undercarriage
Suspension consists of coil springs in front and leaf springs in
back. A single exhaust runs through a stock style muffler before
exiting via a chrome tip in the back.
