The 1992 Jeep Wrangler, part of the YJ generation, is known for its
rectangular headlights and is a blend of old and new. It retained
the leaf spring suspension for off road capability while improving
on road stability with wider springs and antiroll bars. The
Wrangler also offered a full length family style roll cage for
enhanced safety.
Up for auction is a 1992 Jeep Wrangler showing 98,355 miles, but
the true miles are unknown. The Jeep presents in fair condition
with a running and driving engine but rot on the frame and
body.
Exterior
Two stage black paint covers this ring with some custom graphics on
the hood and a hard shell cap. Square headlights in polished bezels
flank the classic grille while a winch resides on a heavy duty
utility bumper. A spare is bolted to the back and covered while
nerf bars help raise passengers up to the cabin which is lifted on
16-inch MT wheels with 350/70R16 tires. There is some substantial
rust through on the body with several holes present and evidence of
filler.
Interior
Black vinyl door panels fill the doors and are in good condition
while the buckets are gray vinyl which wear cloth covers and appear
in good condition. The dash is constructed of black plastic and
houses a series of round gauges in square bezels and an AM/FM/CD
radio is present. There are no seats in back, rather a flat diamond
steel floor capped by a roll cage.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 4.0 liter inline six cylinder, fuel injected
and rated at 180 horsepower. Behind it, a 32RH 3-speed automatic
with the ability to send power to both axles with 3.08 gears. Power
brakes are on hand with front disc and rear drum.
Undercarriage
As noted, there is significant rust underneath. Beyond that, a
single exhaust system includes a stock style muffler and leaf
spring suspension is front and rear.
Drive-Ability
This Jeep starts and runs and in our short test around our loop,
but will need serious work to be made roadworthy.
