Vehicle Description
The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla Morizo Edition is the ultimate
expression of Toyota's return to serious performance. Developed
with direct input from Toyota's World Rally Championship program
and built by the Gazoo Racing division, this limited-production
hatchback is far more than a tuned Corolla. It's a purpose-built
machine designed to thrill the senses and reconnect drivers with
the road in a way few modern cars can.
Only 200 examples of the Morizo Edition were produced for the U.S.
market, making this one of the rarest Toyotas ever offered. Named
after Toyota president Akio Toyoda's racing alter ego, the Morizo
Edition takes the standard GR Corolla's rally-bred DNA and strips
it down to the essentials. The rear seats were removed to cut
weight and make room for additional chassis bracing. Sound
insulation was reduced. A carbon-fiber roof and aluminum hood were
added. The result is a car that's lighter, stiffer, and more
responsive in every respect.
This example shows just 2,956 miles and is finished in Matte Gray
Metallic, a factory satin paint unique to the Morizo Edition. Its
wide stance, vented hood, and aggressive detailing give it the
presence of a true homologation special. Under the hood is a
turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine producing 300
horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed manual
transmission. The Morizo receives a shorter final drive and closer
gear ratios than the standard GR Corolla, delivering snappier
acceleration and a sharper overall feel. Power is distributed
through Toyota's GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive system, which allows the
driver to adjust the torque split between the front and rear axles
depending on road conditions or driving style.
The Morizo Edition comes equipped with front and rear Torsen
limited-slip differentials, forged 18-inch BBS wheels, and sticky
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Braking is handled by upgraded
ventilated rotors with red-painted calipers. The suspension is
track-tuned specifically for the Morizo, offering exceptional
feedback without sacrificing real-world usability.
Inside, the car is outfitted with deeply bolstered suede and
leather sport seats, red contrast stitching, and a minimalist
layout focused on driving. With the rear seats deleted, the
interior feels purposeful and driver-centric. The digital
performance displays provide vital information at a glance, and the
short-throw shifter and firm clutch contribute to a tactile and
connected experience.
The GR Corolla Morizo Edition is more than just a limited-run hot
hatch. It is a modern performance car built with the soul of a
rally car and the heart of a true enthusiast machine. It offers
something increasingly rare in today's market: an unfiltered,
deeply involving drive that rewards skill and encourages
confidence. For those who want more than just speed, and who
believe that every corner should be felt as much as it is
conquered, the Morizo delivers.
